Hi all!... I have an error with my FOSE!... When I run game with FOSE loader I get a error message which says: "A Component of the Fallout Script Extender has stopped working"

I have tried everything... re-installed my game, run it without mods activated, and so on...

I have installed FOSE correctly, as it says on the ReadMe

There is one thing I havent tried yet... on: http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Fallout_Script_Extender

They write:

1. Extract fose_loader.exe and the necessary dll files to your Fallout 3 directory.

2. Open a command prompt window and navigate to that directory.

3. Type this into the command prompt:

fose_loader.exe -editor

But, I'm not very good with commando promt, and I have no idea how to navigate to my game directory, if anyone could help me with this aswell, it'll would be Super.

My game directory: C:\Users\ajanta\Desktop\Ajanta\Games\Fallout 3 - Game of The Year Edition

Please help me with this! I am eager to play the game with FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition installed!

-Any help is very appriciated! Many Thanks!

I'm afraid this is not going to solve your problem as that command line is only used to make the Geck work with fose. Anyway, make sure you have the latest version of fose installed and check the fose_loader.log for an error report.

The only thing you did not say you did was reinstall FOSE. The message seems to point that being the problem, I do not know if FOSE has plugins (like Pluggy for OBSE) and that could be the reason the message of component lacking case some mod use such plugin.

Make sure all FOSE necessary files are installed in the correct place, the fallout install directory and not elsewhere. Finally you may have copied the program to your desktop instead a shortcut to it (this is very important and common error's source, with any program since it will try to run from the desktop instead the correct place).

FOSE seems to conflict with som applications, e.g. littl programs which are running in the tray. You can try to deactivate all running programs. Close your internet connection and 3rd party programs which could be associated with.

Then you just could try it again and hopefully it works this time

good luck

Something similar happened to me. You have to make sure to copy over all the .dlls, and for some reason (at least i Like to) copy over the src (I think) folder.

Anyway, try doing what Tomato said, there are things that mess with FOSE.

Actually the src (source) folder is there to allow the interested to know how it works and to compile the applicative themselves. It will not harm being inside the Oblivion folder (other than occupying space), but will not help too.
