Where should I install Fallout?

Alrighty- After being bombarded by comments saying that one should not install Fallout in the Program Files section of the C drive on a computer, I am left baffled- Where in the hell am I expected to install it then? The My Documents section? I tried that, and the fallout.ini didn't appear correctly.

Does anyone have any advice as to where I should install it?

If you arnt going to mod, Then just go ahead and put it in the Program Files. I mod and have it installed in the program files, but have had some difficulties. But no matter what, Fallout 3 crashes because of many reasons. Don't worry about where you install it.

I'd advise against program files & My Documents areas

Personally mine is installed to "G:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3"

Depends on a couple things.

XP running as admin? Anywhere you want.

XP as limited user, or Vista or 7 as anything? Strongly suggest a custom directory, but not under your user directory or my docs.

As a previous poster said if you don't plan on installing any mods it doesn't matter. But then, if you're not planning on running mods, why are you here? :teehee:
