Dark0ne
Following on from an update on the downloading situation made at the start of the month I want to write a quick post to say we're still working on the CDN setup I touted in the original update. Many people are (wrongly) blaming the new download system we added to the site back in the middle of June, which worked fine up until the Steam sales made everything go a bit crazy. To enable us to fully discount this update as a factor for those of you who are getting slow downloads and downloading issues we've re-enabled the old file server selection download method which we'll likely keep up and running until tomorrow morning for our own piece of mind. This will enable us to monitor the situation and conclude whether it's having any factor on the downloading issues. Talking of the Steam Summer sale, which ended at the start of this month, we're still seeing unchanged and unprecedented registration traffic on the network since the end of the sale which is the driver for all the download issues occuring. For example, yesterday we hit 9,500 new registrations and today, a Monday (which are typically our slowest days), we've already had 6,200 new registrations with 7 hours of the day still left to go. We're not entirely sure what's driving this big influx of new users well past the end of the Steam sale, all we know is it's happening and we're working to sort out our file server infrastructure to make sure it's no longer an issue. For a more detailed explanation of what we're doing please refer to the news article linked at the start of this post.
TheVampireDante
Quakecon sale on Steam is still running and the Fallout and TES games have been going really cheap during it, so that might account for some of that increased traffic.
Izuela
In response to post #16746394. Steam is having another Elder Scrolls sale right now, btw. So probably wont see any dip in traffic the next few days.

MrGrymReaper
In response to post #16746859. I had a look at the current price for Skyrim on Steam and as you say it is really cheap. So looks like it going to be busy.@Dark0ne and rest of staff - Keep up the good work you guys and/or girls.
Spessmahreene257
Yeah, Right now The Legendary edition with all the DLC is $39.00.(Roughly $40) And the regular edition is $20, the servers will most likely be clogged until the sale is over. ZeldaFanGuy
Honestly since you had switched to the new system I was having better download speeds than I had before, and it would hang up waiting to start the download, but switched back to the old system it's still doing that, not sure what that really means for the whole thing, just figured I'd put it out there. EnSabaNur
Not everyone *knows* about Skyrim's capacity for modding... it's likely these ppl grab the game, play for a bit and then go off and look for enhancements after experiencing the vanilla game. I purchased back at launch.. didn't register on the Nexus and really start modding my game till a year later. And then when you start, it's hard to stop (still I feel like I spend more time 'tweaking' my mod setup then I ever do actually playing the game). So... really depending on just how many copies were/are sold, I imagine the traffic increase is going to steadily remain for some time
