Merchants

with the frostcrag spire DLC

somebody in the Mystic Emporium will have a maximum of 1200

that raises to 2200 when you have a mercantile skill of 100

and that's the highest value without user mods in the game.

I hated how all the merchants had like 1000 to barter with...especially with all the mods i was running that add SO many expensive items i could sell...there is the Black Market mod that adds a house right NW of IC. There are 3 people in there that have 10000 gold each to barter with. Armor guy, thief guy that buys stolen goods and an Alchemist dude that sells a lot of ingredients. Every time i head to IC i make a habit of stopping there to offload the expensive items i had found.

If you are not using any mods that change merchants you might want to take a look at this: Oblivion: Merchants - UESPWiki

I hope that helps you find more useful things about merchants found in the game.

Cheers,

Pushkatu!

I'm using merchants from mods, because if you find Mundane Ring, which cost around 12000 (as far as I can remember), I can sell it for excelent price. In the vanilla, as Fonger have said, i can sell it only for 2200.

Use mods, it's highly recommended.

If you have the Knights of the Nine package loaded, once you visit the Vile Lair, there's a guy that hangs out in the Inn at Weye, who has 2000 gold. You can invest 500 and up his total to 2500. No unofficial mods required
