BarryTGash
Just wondering if anyone has actually determined the conversion rate from mod 'place holders' to actual, uploaded, mods? I find these place holders quite annoying - especially the ones asking to rate the idea. Surely, thats what the forums are for? As a suggestion - if a user wants to prepare a placeholder, maybe to reserve a name or upload lots and lots of glorious images and descriptions, then how about implementing an option to hide said place holder *until* the file is uploaded? In fact, doesn't something like this exist? I've clicked on a few mods that state the contributor has elected to hide the mod, so the next step would be to make it invisible to the active mod list. Or a preference setting in our accounts that lets us prevent mods with 0 files from appearing in search results? Apologies, its late and needed to vent some frustration :)
LHammonds
If you find a mod page with no files attached to it or links / mirrors to a file to be downloaded, it most-likely needs to be removed. Creating mod pages for requests or ideas will simply be deleted since that is what the forums are for. Typically, we allow 24 hours for mods to be uploaded. It takes me about 1 hour from start to finish when I upload a mod...assuming I have no technical difficulties...and that is with a very fast Internet connection. Please use the Report feature for anything that does not seem like it belongs in the right spot and a moderator will have a look. Dark0ne
Just to add to what Lon has said; if I were to code it so that only entries with actual downloadable files were shown in categories/search results then the people doing this would just upload a dud rar/zip file to circumvent the system. It's better just to report these files so the admins can deal with it properly :)
BarryTGash
Ok, thanks for the feedback - I'll do that in future.
SillyKristy
When I have a new mod to upload and I want it to look perfect when it comes online, I'll create it and in the process change the "hide file from public viewing" dropdown to "yes" from the default of "no" which allows me to get the url to complete the readme, as well as upload files and add images before it goes live. I'm usually not that picky; I can only think of two mods I did that way, and one was initially visible (but hidden before the file was uploaded) and the other was my less-than-spectacular attempt at an april fool's joke.
