Unessesary banning?

I have been looking today about all those people getting banned...And i thought of...Why people are making such stupid mistakes? Do they need to break the rules??? It's really not fun when you are banned...It's quite embaressing in the first place...So i just wanna ask some of you...Why would people do something like that....Isn't that...Unessesary? :sweat:

They come off sites like 4chan or the Something Awful forums and think it's the same here. It isn't. Those sites have their uses, and their own rules (or lack there of) and we have ours. We just tend to police things more than some sites and the people that get banned tend to either not care or not realise/understand.

Some people are just natural trolls, and can't help themselves or have no other way to communicate online except be the biggest pricks they can be, I guess it is their way of expressing how socially bankrupt they are in real life. Or I guess they just jump from site to site to see how much crap they can stir up before they get banned then move on to the next one.

 

Even if they don't like the forums it would be within their interest to at least keep from getting banned so they could log in and get access to the mod downloads, if they even play any of these games. This is the most extensive mod site I could find for a variety of games. Their loss.

Those are also recorded in the public record...usually with the title including the word 'UNBANNED" insteadl of "BANNED" or maybe restricted posting. But reversals are usually very rare...mainly because the person being banned wanted to be banned or doesn't care. If they ask to be re-instated and have made a sincere effort, it is quite likely they will be unbanned but only if find they are being sincere. We can usually tell the difference and 3rd chances simply do not exist.

Well my first account was banned because I was pirating. I actually didn't realised that I was pirating since no one ever told me anything about internet piracy and I never did any research. Nor my friends nor me ever talked about it and I just simply forgot that thing like piracy even exists. Also I'm not really embaressed because I was banned but because of the pirating. Everyone makes mistakes and that was mine. It was a new lesson for me and now I won't repeat the same mistake again and hopefully I'll be a better member of this community. And I'm not holding grudge against the moderator who banned my account because I'm mature enough to understand that I'm the only one to blame sure I was saddened and I was like "Why? Why!?" but after 10 minutes or so I thought about it and understood everything and deleted the file. Though of course not everyone learns from their mistakes and they just wants to make other people feel bad and/or uncomfortable.

Everyone makes mistakes and that was mine. It was a new lesson for me and now I won't repeat the same mistake again and hopefully I'll be a better member of this community.

This is exactly what I like to see when members are given strikes or banned. Mistakes happen and we all have to learn sometime. But those that already know and do it anyway are the ones we fight to keep off the sites. And if you recall, I saw the creation of your 2nd account and I asked what your intentions were...to which your response was that of somebody that learned a valuable lesson so your 2nd account remained untouched.

 

People don't realize it but in regards to piracy, we are actually helping those people out by not allowing it here. If this place was known to collect pirates, law enforcement "could" request records and activity of certain members which could be used to track individuals down to be arrested. But as it stands, piracy is not allowed to run amok here and thus, is of very little interest to officials. My main hope is that people learn from their mistakes just as you have done from us rather than a policeman knocking at your door.

This has been an interesting subject for me, I'm relatively new to this world of forums, etc. And I have been wondering about the banned posters and some of the posters on another site that sound like maybe they should be or will be banned pretty soon. Now I am beginning to understand. My philosophy is that these sites are wonderful places for us to come together and share positive information with one another. Occasionally venting over a bad commercial product might be ok, but it does not seem productive to share negative viewpoints over one another's work. I, for one, am always greatful to hear the thoughts and viewpoints of everyone, even those with whom I do not always agree (and there are many of those too). I'm certainly no Pollyanna, and I have been known to "tell it like it is" (I am a Scorpio after all), but we are very lucky to have someplace like this to freely express ourselves without going overboard. OK, I feel like Wynne now.

Oh ,yes I remember that message. At first it scared me I thought I've been banned again. :D And I'm grateful that you've given me another chance. And it's also very nice that you're only banning pirates because I wouldn't be too happy seing policeman outside my door lol.

Sometimes I feel like I should be banned because I am a computer ignoramus. I am a parasite who waits for mods from more intelligent and skilled people and then downloads them and even worse makes requests...because I have no such skill. Realising the talent here and my utter lack of it...well...sometimes it makes me feel weird...anyway.

 

I just want to apologise for being a computer idiot and using mods that I could never make on my own. I appreciate those people's effort. Without them I would be even worse off... :confused:
