Cowgoesmoo3
Does anyone know exactly turning down exactly what aspects of skyrim can lighten the CPU load? I heard shadows are processed by the CPU in Skyrim so I turned that to minimum, but it doesn't seem to help. Probably because I might be wrong that shadows are CPU-processed. The problem is just that I'd like my CPU and GPU to run below 60, that's basically it. And only my CPU goes above 60 Edited August 13, 2014 by Cowgoesmoo3
Valkasha
You could always disable the CPU processes of background programs you don't need, other than that there's not much you can do besides reducing graphics, although most of that is done by your GPU. camaro_69_327
Worrying about keeping the temps of a CPU and GPU about the same is well not important...consider this... Max Temperature - Highest safe CPU temperature recommended by Intel or AMD Max TemperatureCore i3-2100 69°CCore i5-2500K 72°CCore i7-2600K 72°C Once a CPU hits 98 to 105°C, it will begin to throttle (lower its clock speed to cut down heat). If temperatures rise further, the CPU will shut itself down to avoid permanent damage. 80 -90 C for a gpu is not damaging....not good by a long shot.... Cowgoesmoo3
I knew that already, thanks. But I disagree, I'm not sure what you mean by CPU is cooked at 70 degrees, which is an ostentatiously incorrect claim. But anyhow, aside from background processes, what settings best ease CPU load? Deleted5770650User
Why do you want them to run at similar temperatures? Is the CPU overheating?Have you confirmed the temperatures it is actually running at?
Cowgoesmoo3
Alright. What I should have said was I would prefer them both running below 60 degrees. That's really what I meant. It is overheating, I have quite a few programs that I use to check.
bojanni
If your CPU is overheating, I think it would be better to check for a better cooling resolution as to lower the load.
Cowgoesmoo3
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ACTUAL SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT SETTINGS I SHOULD TWEAK I MEAN OVERHEATING AS IN MY FAN IS GETTING TOO LOUD FOR ME. Valkasha
I told you, all you can do is lower the graphics which has minimal effect. Skyrim will use the CPU there is no decreasing that process.
camaro_69_327
No reason to yell...lol... Since you have not even stated what CPU you are using...... Have you tried to UNpark your Cores?.... i have a 4 core (8 threads) and since i did the UNpark each CPU core gets more of the workload. Can you UNder clock the CPU....lower speed = lower temps... Have you tried to REseat the CPU (new thermal paste)... a bump of the computer can dislodge the matting surfaces and give raised temps. Have you tried to Clean everything, take off side of case , point a house fan at case...are temps Better?... In other words...help everyone help you ,,,what have you actually tried and what are your temps??? I am probably alone in this thinking..BUT everything is done by the CPU...something has to tell the GPU what to do!
