LHammonds
I would really would like some feedback on the weapon that I presented in my first post.Feedback on a concept weapon? Really? What point would that serve talking about a theoretical gun? The rifle would have a practical application of both hunting feral animals and home defence. For home defense, I'd recommend a pump action shotgun (accompanied with one or two pistols). The louder the click-click, the better. If somebody enters your home and they hear that, it is quite possible they will leave just as fast as they entered if not faster. Much better to defend one's home without having to fire a single round! But if you do, a shotgun with the right round will keep your family and neighbors safe by not penetrating the walls...or at least not with enough force to kill. As for animals, bigger is better. A .223 might kill a coyote but a .308 will drop them to the ground without so much as a single yelp. I have not fired the weapons you talk about but I do know that a weapon 1 year old or 50 years old can still be just as deadly in the hands of somebody trained with that weapon. Other things to consider is the effectiveness of your chosen platform during the day as well as night. Not much point shooting at something if you cannot see and identify it. Maharg67
Good feedback, LHammonds, thank you. I suggest you take a look at the SMLE range. They served the British Empire from the late 19th Century and through two world wars for good reason and are still used by snipers and hunters around the world today. I confess the feedback on the concept gun was because I am thinking of writing of a survivor of a great disaster trying to survive in a weapons research and development complex, that is trying to use prototypes to survive that are not fully tested. I now see why it would not fit into this topic.
