I am curious just as to how many of you out there are ladies, as I have fallen prey to the old wives tale that there are no women on the internet or that play video games.

It would appear that you outnumber the gentlemen in some areas however. I'd add a hermaphrodite selection to the poll but most of them choose a side.

This reminded me of a time my sister was having a go at call of duty: world at war on my xbox live, she got killed and swore, forgetting she had a headset on, she then heard someone say " A GIRL! hey guys a girl is playing ", and was inundated with hello's, so she flung the headset off and left the game

Not enough Girls play computer games in my opinion, and this is a shame as they make great allys in capture the flag type games.

Women are excellent in multiplayer I think in my opinion and they are great modders as well. I think general people's perceptions of gamers must change in order to understand the gaming industry more. There are many women that are programmers, designers, even voice actors and audio specialists and have been in the gaming industry since industry's early days. It is great to see that women are included in forums and are not victimized because of a few (and there are a few out there) who think *oh women suck at computers* or *women can't play video games well* such and such. Also I think the gaming industry view of women being victims or damsels in distress is slowly changing (FFXIII has it first main female protagonist  ) as well and it is great to see women in a positive light. (Body image is still an issue though for both men and women in the gaming industry)

As for me, I will remain silent about my gender for now but I will support women 100% when it comes to anything that will break the toxic stereotype we have in our sociality.
