It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 91.1[139]

Before Everyting Changed; As Things Changed

Kaylee, Kaytee, Humphree and Andie made their way into the depths of the GrandTARDIS, that had incorporated GranAncient artifacts and structures along with other non-Timelord forms. AlphaOmega had done this somehow just as he had done other amazing things beyond the capacity of the 'normal' Timelord factions of timespace. With them went five androids and ten robots, all multiple function. They all wore fitted energy armor and carried self-defense weapons.

After some time they lost the three Timelordites who had been following them, being Timelord Cadets eager to gain kudos with the Timesages. They were the arrogant, cunning, stupid Andratzi Brothers who came in energy armor but who carried powerful offensive weapons of kind that they were not supposed to be using, that indicated they had nasty intentions. Kaylee made sure that the Regulations Council would learn of what they had been up to.

The AraFolk dwelt beyond the supervision, the knowledge of, the TimeLord Followers of AlphaOmega but AlphaOmega knew of them. A tall shiny, hairless human like man appeared out of shadows in a big metallic stone chamber and in energy armor. He carried a deadly phasegun but it was slung over one shoulder. He looked like an AraAncient's basic shapeform but he was the descendent of cloned AraFollowers, or AraFolk.

He spoke with a note of concern. "That you are here means that AlphaOmega has allowed to happen. He was once an AraAncient himself but was deemed a traitor by them as part of the 6of9, a group of AraAncients who tricked the less wise OtoAncients into creating the Overmind and a series of unstable, dangerous, artifacts known as the OtoArtifacts. AlphaOmega has come to regret what he did and, in his own curious fashion, is attempting some form of redemption."

Humphree yawned dramatically before speaking. "I dreamed funny dreams of big tall furry animal thingies who walk on their hind legs, of big dolphin thingies that swim through the air, of tall shiny human thingies with crystal bodies that glow, of roboty ball thingies that were not really robots, of those like you and much else, all deep inside the GrandTARDIS. You can do tricky tricks just like my mum and aunties can do and also my dad."

The ArasaElder bowed briefly. "Humphree is special and we could communicate with you in a special waking dream way that Timelords could not read, perhaps not even AlphaOmega who is also a Timelord now; he has been since he assisted the Timeguardians in the TimeWar. He helped stop the treacherous Timemasters from destroying Gallifrey. The furry thingies are furnolks, the flying-swimming dolphins are dolphets, the globes are clusterbots, the glowing humanoids are glownolks, we are humanolks and there are plantnolks, animanolks and others including humans, animans, androids, cyborgs, zetan like vetans, Graynari like Silvernari and yet others. Ooohhh, yes, Timefolk who are 'internally exiled' thanks to AlphaOmega."

The ArasaElder spoke again. "I am NedlileAr of the Arasa whose ancestors were cloned followers of the AraAncients. We were misled by AlphaOmega, who had another name back then that I will not mention, but he realized his mistake and in the end he changed sides to fight for the AraAncient Loyalists. In doing so he heavily damaged the traitors'cause. We brought you here to discuss the Timespace Event that has triggered off the Timespace Transformation that is still changing timespace realities but firstly we will go and have a rest, and a small celebration of greeting including good things to eat, drink and some nice gifts."

Humphree beamed with pleasure. "Very good. I am already hungry and thirsty."

They followed the other until they entered an even bigger metallic stone chamber. At the other end of it were tables filled with a feast of many dishes, drinks, and small colorful wrapped gifts. But as they crossed the space, the feast blurred and vanished to be replaced by glistening monstrous things of ever shifting warped shapeforms. They were difficult to define, disturbing to observe, and radiated antinatural hunger for life, for the living.

NedlileAr laughed sourly. "My true masters will feed and become stronger to escape from AlphaOmega's cleverness. You know nothing and we know all. We are superior and you are inferior."

The newcomers all blurred and changed to become but one, tall, figure. AlphaOmega stood there in glittering metallic robes, having golden hairless metallic skin and darker golden eyes. He spoke in a cool voice that somehow expressed some regret. "I did warn you what would happen if you left the status feeding grounds." Then he threw out both hands and from them flew pulses of energy that caused the distorted, malignant, entities to be totally destroyed. "They were of my people once before the 'curse' began. That was a nice story. You continue to do well but you deserve a long break and a bonus. Another can take up your role for a time but let us hope that this time none take the bait and I have a chance to save them from a curse that I helped to create."

NedlileAr bowed briefly. "Thank you, Lord AlphaOmega. One of those entities was really your mother so that must truly have hurt."

AlphaOmega nodded and radiated, briefly, a deep sense of grief, but then he radiated puzzlement.

NedlieAr shimmered and became the LittleFatMan who spoke. "There are matters that we must discuss."

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 92.1[140]

Before Everything Changed; As Things Changed

Even as AlphaOmega talked with the LittleFatMan, the real group met the real AraFolk that had been a portion of the AraFollowers of the AraAncients.

The real ArasaElder NedlileAr, who did not know that a false one existed, met them and took the newcomers to an outpost of AraFolk where they secretly traded with others but with the permission, assistance, of AlphaOmega.

Words were repeated, with some variations, but this time they were not part of some trickery.

The ArasaElder bowed briefly. "Humphree is special and we could communicate with you in a special waking dream way that perhaps not even AlphaOmega could read though he is a Timelord; he has been since he helped stop the treacherous Timemasters from destroying Gallifrey. Ooohhh, yes, Timefolk who are 'internally exiled' thanks to AlphaOmega but for positive reasons."

"Very good. I am already hungry and thirsty and I like gifts."

The outpost showed the dolphets 'swimming through the air'as some of the spheres approached the newcomers and opened up to expose small cyborg chubby muscular baby figures. Not all of the spheres, clusterbots, held cyborg little ones but assisted, guarded, were companions to the actual babybots. Big furnolk animals walked on their hind legs, coming forth with trays of food, drink, and small gifts. One adult-female hugged Humphree who hugged back.

Kaylee wanted to know why they had been led there. Then appeared the older appearing, still youthful, version of Kaylee, Kaytee and their clone-sisters. Their surrogate mother, at least one of them who was a clone herself, hugged both of them. They had not seen their mothers for about five years and it was a good moment in some ways. All of the mothers were mother to all of their daughters, sharing both ways.

Taygee spoke as she stepped back. "One of the Timesages, Nazdeply, had us secretly trapped. We dream-linked with you and you will remember fully those dreams now. AlphaOmega pretended that he did not know of our abduction, or did not care, but he was with us. Nazdeply is now imprisoned in status as she is part of a Timesage conspiracy to rebel and wrest power from AlphaOmega. Problem is that the traitor Timesages are not the real threat but are puppets of the real threat."

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 92.2[141]

Before Everything Changed: As Things Changed

Yes, the special dreams did begin to become clear. The 100 KaySisters had shared a kind of life with their mothers, the 100 TaySisters. Timesage assumed he was the sole creator of all of the clones but that was not true; AlphaOmega had intervened to stop a disaster from happening and had banned Chronos from doing any more clone projects. Despite much evidence to the contrary, Chronos kept being deluded on that subject along with others. Yet Chronos was not one of the traitor Timesages.

They were there to bring the KaySisters fully back with the TaySisters. There were other reasons for them to be there but they relaxed in a big grassy, bush dotted, garden park domechamber with an amazingly realistic dome sky overhead. Humphree played chase the babybots and somehow he always won, but so did the babybots. Dolphets pushed babybots through the air with their noses. Muscians played, some folk danced in varied ways and there was a small feast of a wide range of foods, and drinks, because of the various folks there.

Yet there were power armored soldiers on guard, along with robotic clusterbots, defense-security robots and combat androids. They were not in great numbers but it was an indication that not all was well for those AraFolk.

They gained communications with homebase and learned that Martha had died quickly, painlessly, her implants imploding on her and destroying her brain. This had happened before, to others serving AlphaOmega and the Timesages; the KaySisters had come to suspect the reasons for such incidents were tied into a greater mystery linked with the use of certain kinds of implants being planted inside a particular group of people.

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 93.1[141]

Focusing the Hunt

It was hard to know just where to restart the search, to find a new starting point, but it began with the merging of a number of agencies. These included Torchwood, the XFiles Foundation, Fringe Division and others from around the Known Ordered World. Part of the new UN mandated Special Investigations Research Agency was a special Havenlander Department and the SIRA was also linked with FEAR, Interpol and the UN Peacekeepers. The SIRA had its own SWATS (Special Weapons Armor Teams), field teams and other special resources. There were other special departments and other links.

The SIRA Central HQ was placed in the Ayers Rock AraComplex that was both in the Terran Overworld and Lunar Overworld. It bustled with more than Terran human members, and had nonhuman operatives and officers. Triguardians had arrived there and were now in charge over AraArtifacts. The SIRA did not contest the authority of the Triguardians out of respect and common sense knowledge of the greater power of the Triguardians as backed up by the Havenlanders.

The Lone Gunmen, three men and two women, were busy with the new main computer network of network-systems. They were investigating indications of some kind of very sophisticated, cunning, hacking operation taking place. Two carefully cyberlinked into cyberscape (structured cyberspace) aided and guarded by cyberspace sprites, that is a special kind of artifical intelligence program. Others might easily have not found the intruders but the famous, infamous, Lone Gunmen did so.

The search and destroy mission began!

There were moves, counter moves, tricks and counter tricks. Decoy viruses were destroyed by anti-viruses while other anti-viruses went after the real targets. Enemy hackers were found to be cyberlinked to hacking network-systems. Action took place in more realistic virtual realities and more surreal symbolic cyberscapes. 3Ddatasymbols, software pathways, barriers, facades, decoys, traps and much else were used. The enemy tried direct lethal attacks on cyberlinked minds but the attempts both failed and made the Lone Gunmen coldly enraged; that was a very big mistake!

The Lone Gunmen struck out at the cyberlinked enemy hackers, blasting them into harmlessness, and then began taking more steps to better secure the home network-systems, to clean out any hidden threats and to do what every else was needed to be done.

Somewhere, in the USA, two elite cyber-hackers were dead and UmbTek was angry; it had lost two of its most valued employees while gaining nothing in exchange. They assumed that at least their true identity had been hidden; they were wrong!

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 94.1[142]

Timelords in Conflict

PaulaTi made her way through the gateway of the truly massive Tower of London courtyard where the big ravens were seen. There were Beefeaters in traditional garb but also soldiers in modern fatigues and body-armor. Both belonged to the Tower Guard of London but the soldiers were called Guardsmen though some were women.

Her own Timelord devices had led her to the Tower, diverting her from her going directly to the Stone Henge site where Saxon was reported to have been visiting as the UK Prime Minister. Signals indicated that her Transglobe was actually deep beneath the official Tower of London, perhaps in long forgotten underground levels. The supercity of London had a whole Undercity of mysterious existence but even other underground mysteries beyond that.

London had been very big 'before' the Timespace Event but was now truly monstrous in size with a population of over 50 million. It had been a thriving city even before the Ancient Roman Empire conquered England and other parts of Great Britain. PaulaTi knew that such a huge concentration of humans was troublesome in more than one way; the infestation was focused there and it was also a powerful focus zone of paranormal activity and supernatural energies. The Tower of London, with its infamous history, was now a museum and where the Imperial Jewels were protected, along with being a special archives. Saxon had taken personal charge of the Tower of London, to its expensive renervations, just as he had with Stone Henge and other sites; he had spent dollar for dollar, of his own monies, on such sites. A Prime Minister that expended personal wealth on his pet policies, that paid for themselves, was a new thing to British voters.

Tourists flocked through the big courtyard but kept a safe distance from the ravens. They had vanished over a decade ago, before Saxon had appeared on the Earth, and supposedly had returned 'thanks' to Saxon. Except that there was something wrong with the new ravens, something unnatural, and the same could be said for the Tower Guardsmen, Beefeaters and others working there. Saxon had all the former people there replaced except one old man who had died of a heart attack after refusing to leave.

PaulaTi walked up to one of the Beefeaters, who was far more dangerous than he looked to be, and spoke. "Send a message to Saxon as follows: Time is blossoming and events are coming to fruit; the Doctor's granddaughter wishes to talk to him."

The man, who was no longer truly human, communicated using an implant in his skull. Then he nodded. "Saxon asks that you have a look around as his guest; you have his pledge, as a Timelord, that you are safe. Anyway he is not foolish enough to think you would not have taken precautions."

PaulaTi did look around and it was impressive, as museums went, but she soon worked out there were hidden spaces and other features and that the carefully secured Imperial Jewels, behind armored glass, were advaced holographic illusions.

Something drew her to talk to a young woman journalist, who came with her own camera gear now stored away by the Guardsmen as photographs were not allowed in that part of the Tower. Her name was SaraJane Smith.

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 95.1[143]

Before Everything Changed; Before Anything Changed

The survival armored female Bobbie aimed her massive GodzillaBlaster pistol and unleashed a big bolt of destructive energies. A GodzillaBlaster was a quasi-energy weapon with a small amount of recoil easily dealt with by a recoil suppression system. The robotic hunter robot exploded, in the foreward area, and the big hulking metallic hovercraft crashed to the cave tunnel floor. Cheap, long lasting, low energy using fluroflats lit the area though only with moderate brightness.

Bobbie's three companions had abandoned her, fleeing in all directions, but she had expected no more from the selfish cowards than that. They were Cothomos, Pearlisha and Tarren. Bobbie turned and ran for it until she came to a fork in the tunnel. Cothomos' dead body, naked and stripped of everything, lay there and seemed to confirm his death; only it was a poor quality clone that would not begin to fool the true enemy. That is not OtoOrbprime43 but that which was the master of OtoOrbprime43 except, of course, neither would OtoOrbprime43 be fooled by such a trick.

Bobbie went along the fluroflat lit tunnel that seemed to be the foolish choice. A panicky Cothomos would have taken the other tunnel that seemed most obviously the best one leading to areas of the Lunar underground where OtoOrbprime43 had no real influence. She was soon walking quickly at a carefully measured pace that preserved her energies as much as possible while still getting her towards her goal within efficient time.

She doubted that OtoOrbprime43 would see Cothomos or Pearlisha as great threats but Tarren and herself were different matters. Bobbie had been top of the Genius13, the top of the pyramid. Tarren was one of the three, the middle of the pyramid, while MaryJane had been one of the nine at the base.

Then she stopped at a blank area of wall, placed a small plastic explosive at a particular part of it, and detonated it further along the tunnel. The entrance of another tunnel was exposed, a much smaller one. It had no fluroflats lighting it as Bobbie used a head-lamp to continue safely onwards.

But then, in surprise, she came to a halt. A hunter robot was clearly deactivated and a short plump man was standing there of strange rainbow patterning of his business suit, bowler hat, umbrella and suitcase. He smiled. "I am the LittleFatMan and it is time to take you to Sanctum. Please do not be angry with Cothomos, he was suffering from mental illness before I sent him to Sanctum. Tarren regrets running away from you, in a moment of panic, and has vowed to be your true follower from now. He is in Sanctum. Pearlisha has always been more dangerous than you realized and has always secretly served OtoOrbprime43. She is on the run for as she tried to betray you, she has been betrayed by OtoOrbprime43."

Bobbie shrugged. "I find myself trusting you. To Sanctum we go. Can we take the robot? I want a chance to study it. It is of an unusual kind of design, like nothing I have seen or heard of."

The LittleFatMan smiled. "You have passed a test. To Sanctum we go!" He clicked his fingers and the three of them vanished, along with three grubby children who had been hiding behind the robot and a scrawny young dog that was with them.

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 95.1[143]

Before Everything Changed; As Things Changed

Bobbie was hurled through the air and Graham Maharg was pushed backwards by the monster. The large chamber, that the group had just entered, was mostly filled with smashed things but was littered with dead bodies. The agonized, terrifying, flickering monster was hard to define as it moved with amazing speed and power. Supersoldiers fired upon it from many directions, making sure they did not hit Graham Maharg.

Bobbie groaned softly with pain, thankful for his fast healing abilities, and then jumped quickly to his feet. He aimed his battlerifle and let off a burst of high calibre bullets.

The creature was a horror, a menace, but Graham Maharg wanted it alive; the Eternal Guardian declared that it was a victim, a puppet in agony, and somehow it was familiar to Bobbie.

Graham Maharg had made bodies vanish in other areas and now bodies began to do just that, as did bits of broken hardware. The monstrous creature collapsed onto its knees even as the Eternal Guardian had all the clones cease to attack, including Bobbie of course.

Graham Maharg placed his hands on the head of the monster and suddenly, with a shimmer, she was just a naked young woman who was on her knees. He spoke with a sad tone in his voice. "Her name is Pearlisha and she was a member of the original Genius13 as was the female Bobbie, another version of your true nature, Bobbie. I will send her to Sanctum to join others, including other members of the original Genius13. That is female Bobbie, MaryJane, Tarren and Cothomos."

Bobbie shook his head. "I do not know what you speak of. I wish to go and speak to my mother. She, and her people, care for many people. Perhaps they could have a place in Sanctum."

Graham Maharg nodded. "Yes but what of you, Bobbie?"

Bobbie shrugged. "I think we both know that I would not fit in and also that I can not be with that other Bobbie. First we need to further explore this base."

Graham Maharg shook his head. "You are hard, Bobbie, but considering what you have been through that is hardly surprising. You do not remember most of it but, perhaps one day, you will do so and then you will forgive those who you hate deep down. I will take Pearlisha to Sanctum and you, and your clone-comrades, can continue to explore this base but be slower and more careful. I will leave you some special resources to help you."

Then he was gone, almost as if he had never been there, and he had taken Pearlisha with him.

Bobbie turned to the other supersoldiers and gave some orders, after getting some feeback on some ideas. They were netclones and worked in their own special way.

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time 96.1[144]

Focusing the Hunt

The Ancient Roman Temple was a twisted, seemingly impossible, complex that grew more bizarre the deeper the group went. There was Grahen Maharg (Eternal Guardian), Jane Bond and netclone supersoldiers seeking answers of some kind. Grahen Maharg moved just ahead of the others through a great hallway of carved stone that flowed in an almost organic fashion. She now knew that the place was one of the focus points of the Timespace Event that had triggered the Timespace Transformation.

That explained the weirdness of the place, the disturbing feeling of being there that any standard mortal would have had a very hard time dealing with; that explained why none had gone there for... for ever in some odd way of looking at it all.

The heart beat sound began and then the warm air coming in warm drafts as if from some great big breathing entity. They continued forward even as a strange ripple began to go through the ceiling, following the heart beat sound in some strange fashion.

They came to an abrupt halt in a great chamber of quasi-organic quality that was a vast domechamber. The great metallic stone warrior figure was crouched there, wrapped in massive chains, and pushed to the floor beneath him. His great face was twisted with a mixture of anquish, hate, fear and other hard emotions.

Jane shuddered. "There is something familiar about him. His name is Bobbie but it is not Bobbie."

The netclone supersoldiers were oddly disturbed. They would not look directly at the vast statue that somehow dominated the much bigger statue.

Grahen shook her head. "An impossible creation, of the Timespace Event, he refused to face what he needed to do. He became full of hate, self hate, and changed his name to Bobbikine. During the Timespace Twisting, when the Timespace Transformation just began and was at its worst, he led a great army of supersoldiers, puppet soldiers, robots, androids and other fighting units to try to conquer the changing Earth. The attempt failed when a large part of his own armarda turned against him and we, the True Eternals, imprisoned him here with the help of the Orbis and the LittleFatFamily. In return he locked himself into the state he is in now, for ever locking us out. Bobbikine remains very dangerous and far from all of his followers turned against him. The netclones did and ever since have carried a terrible feeling of guilt that they broke a great oath to a great leader who truly loved them in his own twisted fashion but who now hates them."

The voice was angry, low, and pained as it came seemingly from the whole chamber. "I could never hate the netclones, never! I would perhaps punish them for their foolishness but I would never destroy or hate them. I was never the real threat. No, the real threat is one that you trust, Grahen Maharg, is one that helped trap me here. Perhaps you suspect that you have been tricked. That would be amusing. One day you will need me, and my hidden amarda, my new allies, to help fight the traitor and its real allies including the Great Enemy. Tell Bobbie that I no longer hate her, or the others that deeply betrayed me and many of those I loved deeply but also tell her that I feel nothing for her or the others that so betrayed me, that they are as nothing to me."

Grahen sighed. "Still brutal and cold, Bobbikine, when once you were loving and forgiving as male Bobbie. What happened to you, and to others, should not have happened. We know that there is a traitor and that the traitor is linked to what happened to you but you know that already. Perhaps you could assist us in some way."
