mancalledhorse
Hello all :) I'm new to the site so please be gentle as I dip my hoof in the water :) I LOVE SKYRIM. I also love mods (nice mods that don't eat up tons of memory that is :D ). But I don't like bugs. They make me sad. :'( So imagine how ecstatic I was when I heard about the Skyrim Unofficial Patch that also hate bugs and tries to fix them! Ace!!! :D :D :D So, upon making this dicovery, Horsey started doing a bit of research. I know that I need loot installed because that helps with loading the different patches. But that I have to do this manually? (UGHHH - I'm a horse. I suck at computering). Also, I LOVE my current mods. I have a lot installed (about 20) but they don't impact on the games performance. But do I have to uninstall them to install the Skyrim Unofficial Patch. Actually. To quit beating around the bush - is there a dead easy step by step guide that tells me what and how to install the SUP? Even better - is there some kind of tool (like the Steam Workshop mod installer) that does it all for me? :D :D :D Thanks for putting up with all my questions - I hope someone will be kind enough to answer? :D
gromulos
You install the Unofficial Skyrim Patch just like you would any other mod. One thing I would suggest is do not depend on LOOT entirely, it has it's own set of issues, don't get me wrong, LOOT is great, but you need 2 other programs to make sure your load order is correct and to verify that load order. The first program is Wrye Bash, when you run it if you have any check mark's that are not green, then those mods are out of order, just drag and drop them up or down till they turn green. Then you also need TES5Edit to verify that no primary ESP's or ESM's are loaded after any secondary mods they may need. When you run TES5Edit, it will let you now if it finds a problem and what mods to move to fix it. Good luck :)

Wyre Bask, Loot and TES5Edit are all installed. I also d/l'd and installed Mod Organiser. USP is still in its zip z folder - will Mod Organiser take care of extraction/installing etc? I hope so - I'm scared I'll break something if I try :P
gromulos
Mod organizer will do that, just click on the "package manager" or "install package" button. You can always install any mod manually, it's just a matter of using winrar or 7Zip ( what i use ) to open the archive, then you just drag and drop into your data folder. You can also watch this tutorial by Gopher who is also a mod Author :)

NewThalos
Yeah Mod Organizer is pretty much -the- mod loading software to use. When it installs mods, it places them into their own individual folder so that they get loaded without actually destroying vanilla content files. The list goes on why it's the best and I strongly encourage you to use it.

I have to admit, I didn't knew this trick at all and while 98% of my check marks are green already, there are a few orange ones. A few mods even have their name written in green and I've no idea what that means. Also I just tried to find a place for the Thunderchild mod, but the check mark remains orange, no matter where in my ~130 plugins list it stands... Nyquist
Doesnt the orange check.ark just mean that the masters are out of order? In case of wrye bash? If so I wouldn t bother beginners with this stuff. It isn t often that this makes a real issue and those warnings appear usually for patches that contain overrides anyways. ANY mod that is out of order and uses scripts will most likely cause a CTD or lockup when the script misfires
