Having trouble installing things on my computer, kernel errors and suc

Recommended Posts

It doesn't happen to everything, but when I tried to install the retail version of Oblivion about a month ago it did the same thing as what is happening now. I am trying to download TES Construction Set, but every time I try, I get this:

What does that mean, and How do I fix it to where I can install things without issue again?

@ Windows Service Pack 2? What version of Windows are you using? If you are using XP, update to SP3  Check that .NET Framework is updated fully as well.

this happened to my oblivion to (at least the same error code) i fixed it by putting in the disk, then RIGHT clicking the disk from the computer section.then the options bar will show up choose "Open"(should be the second one down) DO NOT CLICK "open or install media from disk." Then once you opened the disc so you can see the files, you look near the bottom of the files on the disk where it says setup and run it, this should work,i I actually went looking for a fourm that had this problem so i could help anyone who needed it, I know how freaking annoying it is not playing Oblivion. :wallbash: Edited by joel20000

SP2 mean probably Vista. Try updating the "Installshield" (although going windows 7 should be the better option in the end).

Sometime ago I read someone managed to "solve" the problem renaming InstallShield to InstallShieldOLD, probably because it caused the automatic update. The file is commonly found under C:\Program Files\Common Files or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files, you may need to search it.

Good Luck
