Morgwynn
Ah yes I though there was a Gyrojet mod for Fallout NV. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/49837/?
Morgwynn
Another thing I was thinking is the space suit found at the REPCONN Test Site would be perfect for the Moon Base quest mod since it reminds me of the Mechanical Counter Pressure space suits that were going to be used on N.A.S.A.'s manned Mars mission in 2024 before N.A.S.A.'s budget cut into almost nothing. However the M.C.P. suit would be from the neck down because of the big transparent helmet. Here is an example of the M.C.P. suit modeled by it's creator. http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/Morgwynn/dava-newman-01_zps58fef321.jpg http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac330/Morgwynn/dava-newman-02-660x636_zps529ef181.jpg
Metrokiller555
Okay. What I was thinking is that either the NCR or the Brotherhood of Steel would receive these messages from the moon trying to relay an SOS. Interested in what could be up there, one of the two hires you to go along on a mission to the moon with a small group. Once there you Encounter combat with these deranged BOS or Enclave troopers who seemed to have been on the moon for awhile, getting into a firefight with them before finding the Moon bunker that had been sending the signal where you meet its occupants. The occupants of these moon bases have been there for hundreds of years, the base aiding in their survival while the citizens had their hydroponics for food and the moons water pockets to quell dehydration. They had been living there and populating for a long time and had never had any trouble until a couple years back when these BOS/Enclave suddenly arrived. At first seeming kind and were accepted in until more came and they started to attack the bases. When they were kinder, the citizens learned of the Earth and after they began attacking in quite vicious manners the Citizens wanted to leave their Moon and head to earth for safety, which caused them to send the signal. The Enclave/BOS have taken one of the 3 or 4 other communities on the moon and are now using it as a base camp. While on the moon you aid the citizens of the moon in repairing an old alien vessel they found, while also protecting them from the BOS/Enclave attempting to take over the moon. Morgwynn
Hmm the Enclave are a broken faction but they still have as many outposts as the Brotherhood of Steel so maybe the Enclave Remnants first detect the signal but Ranger Station closest to the Remnants bunker also get the signal and relay it to their superiors but only after Chief Hanlon is dealt with other wise everyone is going to think it is false intel. However the Brotherhood could get wind of the signal by spying on N.C.R. radio transmissions so now you have a space race between the Brotherhood of Steel and the N.C.R. and this could be the beginning of the whole quest. Morgwynn
Oooh I just had a brain fart. . . What if the signal from the Moon also reaches the Capital Wasteland and Elder Lyons Brotherhood of Steel reclaims that old rocket in the museum of technology and sends his own Paladins to the Moon to aid the people up there. It would be a good way to reintroduce possible followers such as Sarah Lyons to Fallout New Vegas.
Metrokiller555
Well there would need to be a consistent enemy to combat up there or else it would just be a "fix-this, get-that" quest and that just sounds boring. Doing combat on the moons gravity would be so much fun.
Morgwynn
I was just thinking that if a quest is challenging ( Hack & Slash Included but Limited. ) with the right combination of Search and Recover & Repair or Reprogram quests then it would make it appeal to everyone, what's that saying? . . Different strokes for different folks.

Different strokes for different folks.WHAT IF? If you go to the moon, you are not going to just send science teems, Miners too. Think of all the metal up there. Then you are going to need a small security force to keep upwards of a thousand miners in check for long periods. 500 scientist500 or less security1000 miners 500 maintenance and other staff500 or less other civilians and U.S. Soldiers protecting a major U.S. asset. So about 3000 people. on a moon colony (not a just a moon outpost). "When the bombs fell we thought it was the end. But then we realized that our mining division made us practically self sufficient. All we had to do was find ways to brake down the materials into what we need. And for a scientific research complex that almost rivals Big Mountain that would be easy." "The problems came later, we were doing too well. We were doing so well that we ended up over twice the maximum capacity of 3000. We ended up becoming overpopulated and unable to sustain ourselves. That is when people started to form factions. People just wanting to live like us, Some just disgruntled colonist (PLOT!), other factions became very hostile outcast (enemies to shoot BTW).""One of those factions even tampered with one of our power reactors and caused a catastrophic "insert reason for moon split here" and over halve of us were killed(more plot!) That is when we decided that it was not safe to isolate ourselves anymore, so we sent the distress signal and hoped for the best. So history................ -So about 3000 people. on a moon colony (not a just a moon outpost) when the bombs fell. Doing very well-then after a few generations that number was at least double at around 6000. Very overpopulated-That is when the strain really got to people, and someone ended up causing moon crack. Now the pop is in check less than 3000, but the colony itself has become unusable because of the event. you go there, you save the people for a short term, then you go back (after confirming to the NCR/BoS that there are useful assets on the moon), you link the moon to a teloporter system (like the one you can use to get to and from BigMT) Edited October 7, 2014 by blaze1514
Morgwynn
Actually the population would be 32,600 if you started in 2077 to 2277 with a starting population of 3000 at a population growth rate of 0.012. http://www.metamorphosisalpha.com/ias/population.php <--( Population Calculator ) now if the growth rate was reduced to say 0.006 then your population would be 9,924 after 200 years and the disaster on the moon could have claimed 80% of those lives. However I think that it should be a small moon base other wise nobody would want to work on a DLC sized mod.
