Well, first I'd like to see you provide a definition of perfect. Because there is none, at least that you can get everyone to agree on.

Now, to the real question: Yes, we should keep trying, within reason. I mean, would you be happy if our society hadn't changed from 3000 years ago? Because that's how life would be if we didn't constantly try to improve ourselves. All those things that make your life good didn't just come from nowhere!

But I do believe that there should be some limit... I've seen perfectionism go way too far with grades/sports/whatever. Once it gets to the point that your desire to become perfect in some way takes over everything else in your life, its just too much.

Agreed...

Perfection can NEVER be achieved. For the sole reason that no human on Earth does not have certain problems that if they fix they would consider themselves perfect.

If someone’s smart and get paid much money, if you have a family you probably wont be spending much time with them due to long work hours. Their definition of perfect would be to be a great husband, wife, father, or mother and spend time with each other. They think that would complete them if they could just fix that one thing. Even after they fixed that problem another flaw would arise.

Me I worry if I will have enough money to support a family. For a short time if I got money I would feel like I would be a perfect family man in being able to support my family. Then there will be something else that would make me not consider myself perfect like not spending enough time with them. And I would try to fix that and so on. I bet that you can’t think of at least one thing for you to consider yourself perfect.

I’m not sure if this makes muck sense to any of you for I am not good at expressing my though in the form of writing. I will try to make this and other posts bearable.

What is perfection? Who decides?

If striving for perfection is trying to be the best you can be and to achieve the goals you have set yourself, and it gives a purpose to your life, then what's wrong with it?

However, if you're trying to conform to other people's definition of perfection, then IMO you're not really trying to become the best you can be, but how other people want you to be - and often these two will be very different. And IMO that's not a good thing.
