Kurzusseus Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) I was playing as a vampire today when I killed a bandit and was spotted. I ran and hid in a dark room. The bandits didn't see mebut walked in and looked around for me saying things like "when I find you, your dead!" Now I thought 'If that happened to me and I lost sight of a vampireI'd be s***ing myself because I don't want to become infected.' (perhaps not really, being a vampire would be cool.) but I found it strange nonetheless that bandits would so casually walk into a dark room with no sign of lightand not be afraid not knowing where I am. Is there a mod that fixes certain aspects to the game to give it thatfear; e.g if the player is a vampire and the bandit loses sight there is a dice roll to see if the bandit becomes scared and run away for 20 seconds or so.Or if the play is a vampire lord/ werewolf, on transformation or during combat, there is a chance the enemy will turn tail and run UNLESS they are the boss. note; I'm using realistic lighting, and I hid somewhere at night. So night could play a factor in fear as well. Many npc's talk as though they "fear" the night because vampires and werewolf don't. Edited October 13, 2014 by Kurzusseus
dennis20014 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Your mod idea sounds pretty cool, but I think it would work better in some form of a shout. Doesn't necessarily have to be loud, but maybe give an effect of the npcs run away like you said for 20-30 seconds. There most likely is a mod that does this, but I'm not sure where it is. It is probably obscure and unknown.
metaton Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 If this would be a shout it would loose it`s main purpose as this should be something what is happening because of you and not because what you do.We have a mod called npc`s in the dark, maybe that could be extended with fear and comments. if I would be you Kurzusseus, maybe I would contact the mod author of NPC`s in the dark.
chanchan05 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Well, there's Fight or Fly. It makes the opponents afraid of you depending on how stronger you are, and how easily you dispatched one of them.
Amyr Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 This can go both ways, imagine you just started the game, you're just a whelp LVL1 dude, you know nothing, you got no skills, you're no hero. You're lurking around the woods in late hours, and suddenly there is huge spider right in front of you, I actually s#*! my pants in a situation like that.I always thought that the "sanity" mechanic from Amnesia series would actually become a good immersive mod for Skyrim.Lower sanity levels can have effects on your screen just like hypothermia did in Frostfall, making your screen blurry towards center.
CookieDynamics Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) That's a really good idea Kurzusseus. Honestly... I think there should be a chance for low ranked nord bandits to run in fear after you use any shout, to be honest. Hell... they just found out they provoked the freaking dragonborn.... "You start running so I can stab you in the back"? No no.... "Oh God... what have I DONE?!?!" is more like it. --------------------------- I play with Requiem, I've noticed that Bandits get scared a lot easier with the mod. I love it... it makes sense. I don't know the exact criteria they use. But for example, I already saw 3 or 4 regular bandits start panicking shortly after I killed the bandit leader. I don't know if that was a coincidence, or if the mod authors implemented a morale system that brought them to despair after seeing their boss being killed. I pictured the scene somewhat like they thinking: "Holy Sh**! He killed Bob like he was nothing! We don't stand a chance!" Makes sense to m. Bandits, in my opinion, should represent what former-civilians that decided to steal to survive would be able to do. Soldiers, some-hardcore bandits, Thalmor, Body guards, .... , these guys shouldn't feel fear easily.... but regular bandits should. Edited October 13, 2014 by CookieDynamics
Kurzusseus Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Oh wow thanks for the compliments on my idea! If I had higher modding capabilities I'd make it myself but that kinda of scripting it too difficult for me.What I would like to be invested in the mod would be a high script feature that is added to the character based on your level and your factions; The most fearful reason I could see bandits running was like in my predicament; I just took down one of there men in the pitch black of the nightand they seen me do it. They shoot bows from a distance and seen me run into their little stone tower. I hid under the stairway in a pitch black roomas the bandits walked in and out of the room searching for me; now seeing me take down one of there own, seeing the red eyes I have- and the knowledge and fear of vampires, they should be terrified to gointo that room NOT knowing where I am. I kinda agree that fear should also be given when you use a shout in general, but keep in mind banditsare dumb as s*** too, so if they feared shouts they may very well fear a mage, shouts may be no different then a fancy spell to them. In my opinion, the fear would give great immersion for werewolf/vampire players who use stealth and FEAR to kill their enemies.if you wore daedric armor I could see a bandit turning tail and running, or even Dark brotherhood armor- they may be dumb but thedark brotherhood armor should instill fear, its worn by elite killers who were contacted personally to join the DB. Daedric armor could appearlike a dremora has finally been sent to claim their soul, he could be like a make shift chart of fear; Dragonborn fear level; 5% fear added (this would be configureable in case you don't want to play as Dragonborn this gameplay.) Vampire; 15% (5% bonus at night maybe higher. Werewolf form 25% (10% bonus at night) Vampire lord 25% (10% Bonus at night) While wearing DB armor 10% While wearing daedric armor 20% (10% at night) That above is just a rough draft of what it could have. Other armors from the factions would also be included, and you would receive a huge bonus to FEAR FACTORwhen the enemy loses sight of you, like a 20% increase depending what you were wearing or what you looked like. Any other thoughts? I'll see about contacting the author of NPC's in the darksee what we can arrange, if anything at all. But seeing as HacknPaint hasn't been on in months I may not even get a response. Edited October 13, 2014 by Kurzusseus
