gnhtd
In response to post #20094109. I must disagree that the nexus in no "public square". The Nexus is part of the World Wide Web and as such available to everyone - even if it would be locked down or only for premium-users to visit hackers at the bare least would still have access to it.The "right to free speech" is something that no one - no matter if he / she owns a website or a whole state - can touch. True, there should be certain rules to a polite discussion here but these rules should never be abused to prevent people from saying something the person in power disagrees with.(just to say that it is not being abused here as of now - as far as I can tell)And if a person rules over a whole state he / she may ban free speech but is never able to prevent people from telling and thinking what they want. Have I broken any rules as of now ? I don't think so - and if, then tell me and don't just delete my profile here.Am I "polite" and "respectful" as of now ? I don't know. These terms are subjective and even me criticizing your statement because I don't agree with it to 100% and telling you about this could be "not respectful" to some people.Do I not have to be afraid to get banned ?Yes I do and I am afraid that some day someone will abuse his power like it happens all the time as history tells us. Dark0ne
In response to post #20094109. #20094859 is also a reply to the same post.http://xkcd.com/1357/Pretty much covers it.Lots of people really have no clue what "free speech" means. "Free speech" is not the right to say anything with impunity and without recompense among peers. Edited November 16, 2014 by Dark0ne
LivingDragon
I would like to take a moment to say a few things here and I genuinely hope that others can relate to this. Firstly, the Nexus has been -and will continue to be- a place that I visit when I want to see the creations of like-minded individuals who share a common interest between one another. This site has grown exponentially over the years and although I wasn't present for its birth, I have been present for the last few years of its growth. It has been cared for and improved upon by countless individuals who want to see it succeed and aid in the development of creativity through modding and file sharing. Secondly, I have never experienced any issues with download speeds at any point in time. I pay for decent internet, I care for my computer and in return, I get decent download speeds from any website, including the Nexus. I can't presume to understand what issues each of you are experiencing, but honestly, I see no problem with how the Nexus is set up right now. Lastly, Dark0ne has taken the time to inform us of his desire to improve this site as much as possible. He has spent far more time and resources than most people would to make this site an exciting experience for all of us, and he has kept us informed of what he is doing since the beginning. I for one would like to thank him and our moderators for all that they are doing for us. With that being said, we should take a moment to appreciate what we have here and do our part to keep things working as smoothly as possible. I asked something there, and I don't think I ever received a response. The creator, back when I looked, didn't seem very active and I don't want to throw in with the umpth mod manager if I cant be sure that there will be help if an issue arises.I'd much rather have a stable setup with NMM than having to risk running with a rickety setup with little to no guarantees. Also, I've heard issues about mods not being able to "see" eachother at times, especially in complicated setups. That is not acceptable. Edited November 17, 2014 by RJ the Shadow

I love Mod Organizer, but with that being said, I would love to see NMM compete with it on the level that it's currently at by introducing Mod Profiling. As far as MO is concerned, I doubt that your setup is as complicated as mine, and I'm using over 210 esm's/esp's right now. My girlfriend is using 251 at the moment, and the only issue that we have is something that I caused... not MO. It's worth looking into until NMM has Mod Profiling in my opinion. With that being said, we should take a moment to appreciate what we have here and do our part to keep things working as smoothly as possible. I, like you am VERY grateful and appreciative of all the people at Nexus have done for those of us who enjoy the mods available for all the games they support. Unfortunately, I do have a bit of an issue of being force to use a download system that forces my download speeds from the 2.5MB/s download speeds I had before the CDN set up which now slows my speeds to a maximum of 263Kbps. That's on a good day, and I've seen tests of even worse speeds. That's around 100 times slower than my normal download speeds. And, yes, that's a problem. If I was getting 263Kbps on up to 4 to 6 threads at the same time, that would be a different matter. But, some of these mods are getting downright huge. And, at that slow of a rate, I have to wait upto 20 minutes for some of the larger downloads. And, while it's downloading, I can't do anything that interferes with the download speed, or it goes even slower. Which means, the internet, Steam, or anything else online is off limits during a download. I'm glad for you that your download speeds are good for you. I wish mine were. I think you missed the point - NMM and Mod Organizer do not compete - NMM is a mod manager for lots of different games, including the Bethsoft Gambryo engine games. Mod Organizer is a specialized mod manager that ONLY supports 4 Bethsoft Gambryo Engine games. By limiting MO to a single group that allows them to include more features specific to that set of games. MO supports 4 games. ( I'm not sure if it supports Morrowind or not) NMM currently supports 17 games, including all 4 of the same games that MO supports and 13 more - with more coming. NMM is intended as a simple mod manager for beginners and people that don't need more advanced features. MO has more advanced features for a fewer number of games for more advanced users. There are actually several other mod managers available. Such as OBMM for Oblivion, TesModManager for Oblivion & Skyrim, Wrye Bash Each manager has it's own strengths, weaknesses and level of expertise required for use. ravernware
I too am very appreciative of all the work that has gone into NMM. Cudo's to Dark One and the rest of the NMM gang. As for d/l speeds I have no complaints. In fact not sure what (if anything) was done last night but my speeds just doubled from an ave of 5 Mb/sec to 11 Mb. Just downloaded the 1.08 ver of Willow Companion in less than 30 sec. Smoking fast !! Maybe hardly anyone else is logged in?
wallacemre61
My download speed is not that bad (400-600 kb s.) but my problem is about not able to finisihing big mods genereally bigger than 700 mb.. When its close to finishing the mod, download speed drops to zero. and I cant continue the download.. I need to download the file from the mod page again but I really cant manage to download the file. The mod I am triying to download is immersive armours.. I cant even think about intereating npcs :D By the way my internet run smooth. No connection problems that would do it. If anyone know there is a soulution to it I would be very happy :)) Edited November 19, 2014 by wallacemre61
