Illiad86
Not really excited at all. Movies based on video games....they are pretty bad...that absolutely horrible Dungeon Siege movie, Bloodrayne, Resident Evil (I think they are terrible), etc. The only one that came close to being "good" was Silent Hill. I also really don't see how they are going to fit the story of Oblivion into a reasonable time span for a movie. It probably will never come to be. ub3rman123
No, video games have never made good movies, movies have never made good video games. THey're totally different formats, with their own forms of viewer participation, style, dialogue, and they would totally mess up the way Argonians talk. bben46
I doubt that Bethsoft is actually going to make a movie. By filing they prevent anyone else from using their Oblivion name for a knock off without paying them for it. And that would give them some control over the movie. I would hate to see just how bad Hollywood can mess it up. :pinch: Can you imagine compressing the vanilla Oblivion story line into 90 minutes? What would they have to leave out? How many ancient ruins would be explored? How many forts? How many caves & mines? how many cities? How many quests would be left out entirely, and how much would the main quest be truncated? ub3rman123
Didn't Blizzard say they were making a WoW movie? I have yet to hear anything of it. Folded, I hope.
alonsomartinez
Hmm I rather liked the Resident Evil movies But like Bben46 I think that they are just securing all their rights and all It wouldn't be really good if they made one but I would still watch it
Eiries
Boy, I sure hope they don't. Although, I've been reading The Infernal City, and it's been pretty good so far. It is possible to make a good story set in the Elder Scrolls universe. But I would not want to see it in theaters. Can you imagine Argonians and Khajiits? Omigawd, the CG would be everywhere. spookycandy
There's nothing important to see there. I don't really trust the source, considering the fact that they mention an Elder Scrolls MMO by Bethesda which is just not possible. Bethesda has said on numerous occasions that they do not do MMOs, and that if an MMO was being made they were not involved. Still, if there is a movie... who would see it? LHammonds
Ancient Aeon, I love the Matrix moves clip. If Bethesda does make an Oblivion movie, I hope they release the unedited film so we can mod it and make our own versions of the movie.
Ferryt
Hmmm ... maybe said movie would wind up being a ninety-minute machinima running off the Oblivion engine. Something to think about ... Seriously, though, I really doubt anything like this will ever happen. I think we're all pretty much agreed that an Oblivion movie would likely be a total flop. People who have never played the game would probably like it, but there would just be too much left out of it to make most Oblivion players happy. I could see it, maybe, as a TV series, though, structured something like Babylon 5 so you had a main storyline with little sidetracks and mini-stories running parallel to it. Now that, I think, might have a chance of actually working.
