throttlekitty
Polycount Wiki: a growing treasure trove of information; in particular, the normal map section. For a *lot* of tips on sub-d modeling, check out the "How U model dem shapes?" thread at polycount as well. Marmoset Toolbag. It's nice to show off what you've made, Viewport shaders don't really touch on the ease and realtimey-ness of Toolbag.
Ghogiel
I have committed the entire polycount wiki to memory. It is probably the most comprehensive, most up to date information for 3d modeling anywhere freely available on the web. I never tell anyone about, it's just too good. It's like secret uber info. :pinch:
LHammonds
Dag gum TK, why don't you just tell the world about Polycount Wiki
Ghogiel
btw looks like they started charging for the new version of the marmoset toolbag- $50. I have a couple great shaders which do nicely. and you can always use cryengine or Unreal for those beauty shots. a bit annoying
dthumb
I'm not sure where to put this, so I'll put it here. Yes, 3D related. Some dude posted his works here ZBrush Central then, another dude asked about how to make low poly fur. And he replied with a tip and an awesome link to The Making of Shadow of the Colossus

Ev3rgr33n
There's also MakeHuman, it was a Blender plugin before but a free, open source stand-alone now. It's under the CC0 license, so you can do both commercial and non-commercial stuff with it.Really cool piece of soft. Accurate anatomy with good topology & uv's + different diffuse and normal maps (for different ethnics), great base for sculpting, or even ready for production depending on your needs. A hell lot of parameters to tweak your character, so you can make a dude/dudess with a good face, one that has personality. You can add teeth, hairs, clothes... They come rigged too. AND there's proxy meshes, if you want to start from scratch! A must have, really. http://www.makehuman.org/
