crazydave
The thing that ticks me off the most in any game, Oblivion included, is how visual models and colision models more often than not dont line up! Imagine this your sneaking around a dungeon. You see a goblin around a corner ahead, but he dosn't see you. So you pull out yor bow and line up the shot. :) you figure that you have a good three inches of clearance around the corner. So you shoot, but the arrow ricochets off the collision model right back in to your face! So you move over a little bit. It hapens again! :( So you keep moving over until you realize the goblin can now see you! Element of suprise completely wasted!!!! >:(
SonnyJim
Many disappointments yes, but 2 things annoy me the most : (1) the audio-bites used for NPC characters when you talk to them. It's really hard to enjoy any given conversation with an NPC (and let's face it there are alot of them in OB) when they use one voice for the first response and a completely different one for the next response. How hard is it to assign the same person's voice to a given character?!? It really destroys my ability to take the Oblivion world seriously when I talk to a beggar who answers my first question with an old woman's gravel-throated voice and then responds to the next question with the voice of the Queen I just conversed with at Anvil castle. Sorry but I'm not that unintelligent that I can pretend I can't tell the difference! Overlooking the use of the same person's voice with scores of NPC's is enough to deal with! (2) Item PlacementI will never ever comprehend how they allowed the terrible system that exists in OB for placing your own items ... eg books in bookcases, wine in wine racks, weapons in weapon racks ... even just vases on tables ... why allow us to enjoy the time-wasting idea of adding your latest books collected from a recent adventure to your own library or fancy enchanted sword to your weapon collection at all if the process of placing an item and keeping it there makes you want to smash your keyboard into a million pieces?!! They would have been better not to allow it all than leave it as is. Just leave it alone or ask Will Wright to take a break from The Sims 2 and come teach them the basics of player-object physics?! lol There is so much more they could have done with the vanilla game that would have given them much more scope for expansions and add-ons into the future. Instead it only allows for more of the same with KOTN and SI. It's such a great game, a real shame they couldn't see how much long-term potential it could have had. They could have made more money and we could have enjoyed a better game.
tmx
The street beggers. Their voice acting for it are so annoying that I have to purposely avoid them to not hear it.
Imorra
I guess I can name a few things, they've probably already been mentioned before... but I'd like to get them off my chest. ;D 1) The voice actors. Dear god. In the beginning, I didn't particularly mind hearing the same voices. But after playing for tons of hours I can't STAND to hear them anymore. All of them! They sound exactly the same! ARGH. Is there an option to turn off the voices and just listen to background music/sound effects? I'll need to check that next time. If not, I'll just turn off the sound completely. 2) How every bandit seems to go for my horse in some crazed, blinded-by-hate frenzy. Example: I had a quest at some random bandit hideout, which happened to be on the other side of the world. I'd already discovered it on my map earlier though so, thinking myself very smart, I fast travelled there directly. Result: 5 bandits pounding on my horse like mad, while I was desperately trying to get them off. Unfortunately it was dark, my horse got pushed down the hill by the more enthusiastic bandits and I accidently ended up giving him the final blow with my arrow, to boot. Needless to say, I've been travelling by foot since then. 3) The main quest. I hated the plains of Oblivion. I hated the trouble you had to go through to get to the big tower in which you had to go through ALL of the halls to finally, FINALLY, reach the sigilum sanctus. Also, I understand Jauffre is supposed to look like some sort of monk, but he just looked ridiculous in armour, seriously. He also had one of the most terribly weak-sounding voices in the game. I just wanted to put him out of his misery most of the time. Also, on the topic of quests, I like how they always make you do all the work. At the last stages of the main quest I could not help thinking to myself: "Okay... I just went across the entire freaking country to gather a pretty big army and now you're telling me to head into this huge Oblivion Gate all by myself while they hold off a few random daedra...? Riiiiight..." Now, I'm sure they would've just gotten themselves killed anyway, but it's the thought that counts. 4) The retarded AI. I guess they're pretty bright, going about their business and stuff in towns, but they're completely retarded when it comes to other things. For example: I'm in town. I'm stealthed, I aim my bow at a random person and kill them.... body drops to the ground and NO ONE takes notice. A woman actually walked on top of the corpse and started a friendly conversation with the city watch, for god's sake. Besides those kind of things, I enjoy playing the game. :)
Abramul
I don't much mind all NPCs of a given race using the same voices. What I DON'T like is different races using the same voices. In particular, the voices for Dunmer and Orcs don't fit at all. Khajiit and Argonian voices are slightly appropriate for both races... The AI thing I hate is when NPCs walk along a road near a ruin or cave, getting themselves killed. Did get a nice "Thieve's Dagger" and a castle key out of it, though. Povuholo
The landscape. It's just grass... Trees... Rocks... Grass... Trees... Rocks... Oh a river! Grass... Trees... Rocks... Snow... White trees... White rocks... And the occasional deers and dungeons. It's just the same everywhere. Now Morrowind... Morrowind had more diversity. Swampy regions, grasslands, places with ash storms and blight storms which had different (dead) trees and soil than the swampy regions for example. Many small towns. More dungeon types. And when you entered a dungeon, you don't know what's inside. Undead? Vampires? Or some bandits who by the way all have unique names? And you have to run at first when entering the wrong dungeon... No killing vampires at level 1... Okay I'll stop already :)
blaze234
Propbably one of the most annoying things in Oblivion... "Ow! My collision box!". Being a bow user, seeing arrows sticking inches away from someones arm, and still doing damage is really stupid. This is most prominent in rats, with the tails, but its still very annoying. Also, every time I try and shoot someone in the head, it sticks the arrow in the back?

Malkav33
The Main quest line and Warrior guild quest line just suck; the Mages guild quest line is just spoiled by Mannimarco's weakness...And the Thieves guild's last quest is so bugged down it makes me cry... The way everyone treats me like a weakling when I'm champion of Cyrodiil, Leader of the Fighters guild, Archmage, Member of the Black Hand,Arena Grand Champion AND the Grey Fox...not to mention Master in at least 3 skills (including blades): I JUST SAVED THE WORLD, NOW GIVE ME SOME RESPECT, GOD DAMN IT!(and i hate being 'the latest recruit of the Arcane University' when I've already been Archmage for 3 months) zombies: I hate those buggers: killing a single zombie requires you to hit him just as often as the entire rest of the monsters in the cave... How come nobody ever talks of rebuilding Kvatch, The Bruma Mage guild (and the Anvil Chapel in KOTN)? Restoration skill: how come I have to cast like a hundred healing spells to gain 1 point in the skill, while I only have to invoke like a dozen zombies to gain 1 point in Invocation? The helmets: they are just ugly...every one of them! Cyrodiil in general: this is supposed to be the heart of the Empire: how come there's just a nine cities and then...wilderness and half a dozen villages...And imperial forts are all in ruins...By the way, the Empire has quite an history of wars and battles, but there isn't a single border fort in case the king of,say, Hammerfell decides to rebel and attack Cyrodiil...Hey Helseth, wanna become Emperor? Povuholo
(and i hate being 'the latest recruit of the Arcane University' when I've already been Archmage for 3 months)And those scholars talking to each other about a great discovery. Before finishing, the one will say he'd tell the archmage as soon as possible. But when you talk to him then he will not say anything about it, or he'll even be rude to you.
