The dome structure protected people from Deathlordic attacks that came in the form of new threats such as death-jets shrieking through the air as menacing black darts like oversized death-darts. They fired hundreds of death-darts and dropped hundreds of death-orbs that shot towards targets like smart-bombs.

Flakguns blazed at the enemy, tracking them with advanced targeting systems as did smart-missile launchers and newer type energy weapons. A death-jet exploded in mid air, struck by a smart-missile, and a another was soon after destroyed by a double strike of two pulselasers. Death-orbs exploded big craters in the ground as the attackers sought to get at underground bunkers and tunnels.

Loperfolk warriors had to be pressed into staying inside the dome, or bunkers, and not to be outside crying out war challenges at enemies or shooting at them with weapons that could not hit the death-jets, let alone do them any harm. The arrival of an UnNaluki Princess had caused the warriors to follow orders as she insisted that they do so or be dishonoured. It was not hard to work out that the name 'UnNaluki' was linked to one of the United Nations agencies that had once operated on-in the Moon but in 1,000 years there had arisen a powerful constitutional monarchy with its own citystates and other territories. The UnNaluki were the only LO Faction bigger and stronger than the UCG, at least in the Known Lunar Overworld.

The expedition had been halted by the rise of zishaperzi amongst Lunar Overworld populations, the treacherous infiltrations of biozay of the worst kind and the treachery of some Overworlder Factions. A happier surprise was that the United Citystates of Gloria had changed an old decision to become a full member of the Freedom Alliance; it did so even though it failed to gain the unfair conditions that it had first demanded.

Truth was the UCG knew quite well it could not take on the enemy alone or trust to form some kind of alliance with them. The UCG had tried negotiating for the safety of the two citystates, that later had been lost; their diplomatic party had been betrayed and murdered.

Only some of the most infamous, and lowest of status, Overworlder Factions had joined the enemy in their invasion of the Lunar Overworld. Cannibal loperfolk, marauder oomans, the dreaded Strattasgi and vaguely selenite like ferenites were known to be amongst them but some remained a mystery.

Walter examined a map of the region dotted with information including markers. He shook his head, as if concerned about something. Then he spoke to the others there, including to the tall Princess AlmiziUni, of the UnNaluki, who was impressively embellished with decorative but fully efficient, armour. Along with some kind of energy broadsword, she had a very big semiautomatic pistol holstered at her side.

Walter frowned. “Something, about what is happening, does not make sense as an actual invasion aimed at a large scale occupation. We have seen this pattern before.”

AlmiziUni spoke. “An invasion designed to steal resources and then to have the invading force vanish in some mysterious fashion! That has happened in the Known Lunar Overworld twice in the last 1,000 years.”

Walter nodded. “It would be interesting, and useful, to learn more of those incidents. I was speaking of invasion attempts to get into the greater complexes of the AraAncients that are sometimes called supercities. Deathlordic Forces attempted to get to certain sites, in the Known Lunar Labyrinth, to do the same but they were driven back; it is feared that they will return but in a better prepared fashion and with powerful allies. PanAxis Forces have been spotted constructing a huge bridge across the Lunar Thames River that is on the very edge of the Known Lunar Labyrinth. They are doing so in a fashion that locals have found ridiculously easy to spot; as for identifying them, they are emblazoned with PanAxis symbols that are easy to spot. We suspect that the enemy is either overconfident or that the bridge project is a decoy away from the real, or main, threat. I don't suppose you have any 'supercities' up here?”

She looked down at Walter, of course, and looked puzzled. “We call it Moontropolis, for want of a better term. It is on the very edges of the Known Lunar Overworld but...” She paused noticeably before going on. “Opposite from where the enemy is attacking but their mapped direction would lead directly to Moontropolis, if they managed to get through our territories. They appear to be heading towards Moontropolis.”

It was an idea that kind of made sense but, which as an answer, begged more questions.

Walter was in more place, at the same time, and so were others. He was more than one superclone now and, like other such superclones, did not know that he was serving as a decoy, as a confusing tactic, to enemies. Their were traitors amongst the peoples in the Lunar Overworld including those who had come from the Known Lunar Labyrinth.

Walter flew, with Astrid, and others in a low gravity aeroplane flying towards Moontropolis.

Walter was trapped at the dome structure with Astrid and others.

Walter was in the UNPSIA Base along with Astrid and others.

Walter knew all of this, at a deeper and more subtle level, as did the others; in a shallower, less subtle, fashion they did not even attempt to consider what was really happening. The enemy was finding this to be most frustrating.

Not all were pleased by what was happening to those superclones and not pleased at those behind such tactics.

The RainbowBaby was getting very annoyed!

Certain True Eternals went into action to stop her from striking out at the RainbowGuardian but also to seek balanced justice.

One 83.1[133]{133}

1,000 years had passed on Terra, now surrounded by its own world-bubble, and the same was true of Spacetropolis with its world-bubble just as it was true for the Lunar Overworld.

Eight Unified Spacer Federation Battlestars moved in formation towards the enemy, joined by 15 glowing yellow white spheres. There were over a hundred smaller USF vessels, most being fairly big space-fighters and even bigger fighterships. There were troopships, gunships, some destroyers, some frigates and five very big cruisers that were still dwarfed by the battlestars.

Except that the enemy was not behaving as the USF Defence Force Command had calculated they would. Instead of heading towards transformed Mars, they seemed to be targeting Spacetropolis. During the 1,000 years of history, a great exodus had taken place from Spacetropolis to Mars, now with its own world-bubble and life supporting environment. Another exodus had gone to a transformed Venus.

Something terrible had invaded Spacetropolis and though many humans had remained there, determined to fight it, many had also left to go to the two transformed planets. The fate of others remained unknown.

The enemy was the Unified Spacer Confederation of transformed Venus, savage world of dinosaurs and dragons, with their own battlestars that they called deathstars. With them were a small fleet of Greynari saucerboats and one saucership.

Did the fools know what they were doing? Had they not heard the terrible stories of the hivaca monsters that had appeared mysteriously, suddenly, to start swarming through Spacetropolis? Then there were the monstrous humanoid hunters, the predatoria, with their cloaking defensive fields, shoulder guns and terrible energy blades. Then there were other, terrible, threats.

Of the humans, and others, who had remained in Spacetropolis to fight, nothing had been heard of for over 400 years. This was despite five expeditionary forces sent to find, to help, them. Three were USF and two were USC; all failed to complete their missions, being driven back out of Spacetropolis.

USF StarMarshal Rennai Stark was of the Eternal Warrior, was linked to FieldMarshal Abdul Abdula and special others, was only too aware that the USC, Greynari, taskforce was up to something foolish. Yet she was in no position to block them from reaching Spacetropolis thanks to the position of her forces in relation to the USC fleet. That would not stop her from investigating what was going on. In her combat command chamber, she gave orders for the launching of stealth drones and other specialist hardware.

The RainbowGuardian knew quite well what was going on in Spacetropolis. Humans had become three terrible factions of daleks, cybermen and clonemassers, along with smaller ones of less power. They fought the hivaca, the predatoria, and yet others.

There were adapted humans, genetically engineered and bio-engineered superhumans, striving to survive against terrible odds. The RainbowGuardian had assisted them with a large amount of resources. They had also enhanced the general, and special, abilities of the superhumans.

The Rainbowman strode along a great Spacetropolis tunnel of metallic stone. Hivaca gluecrete had been used in an attempt to create a permanent nest but the substance had difficulty holding onto the metallic stone and could not begin to melt into it. Hivaca had fled from the nest as it became attacked by hovering dalek fighting machines, dalekans. Wreckage, of such machines, and destroyed dalek creatures attested that hivaca caste soldiers had fought back with brutal aggression.

The Rainbowman was hunting for traces of a traitor to the living, a powerful puppet of the Great Enemy. It was only in past months, with stolen data from his allies, that he had learned to go to that place. He had carefully blocked the truth from the rest of the RainbowGuardian just as he had been secretly manipulating the superclones with out the knowledge of the rest of the RainbowGuardian.

There was something that the Rainbowman did not consciously know, did not want to know. He failed to hear the subtle flow of dark laughter that followed his footsteps for just a few seconds.

The Rainbowbaby gathered her much of her energies, focusing them into a fiery sphere of elemental effects, and unleashed it against an unknown enemy. As the projectile vanished, she squealed with a mixture of fury and fear. The presence of dark threat automatically vanished. The 'thing' that had been trying to get into the RainbowSanctum was gone, at least for the moment.

The rainbow coloured infant yawned and stretched her chubby muscular figure. Then she fell asleep even as she was scooped up by Jessie who held the small one to her breasts.

Jennie frowned softly, stroking the small one's scalp. "Did you gain the same glimpse, of information, that I did?"

Jessie frowned softly. "The menace had, has, some very strong subtle link to the RainbowGuardian itself. The Rainbowbaby is not directly of the RainbowGuardian though it has strong subtle links with it."

Around them RainbowSanctum was bustling strong as usual but there was an easing tension in the background as brief agitation was passing away. The strengthening of the RainbowSanctum continued but the main focus of activity was the normality of life, the enjoyment of life, and a focus on the happiness of the Rainbowbaby; this was as important to her health, and security, as any other factor.

So there was a strong subtle link between the dark menace, what ever it was, and the RainbowGuardian. This time around the menace had not been the Eternal Stalker for otherwise the Eternal Guardian would have identified it this time, having gained important information from the Shadowwoman. Perhaps another had attempted to get into the RainbowSanctum because the Eternal Stalker had failed to do so but that was just conjecture because of the lack of important data.

Ginger the Cat stood close and MaryPoppins covered a large folding-table with a table cloth and then food-drink, everything coming out of her extraordinary bag including the folding-table. Then she pulled out some chairs with her amazing, graceful, effortless strength.

Jonnie came pacing up to them, in new upgraded type supersoldier power armour, and with him came three platoons of other supersoldiers along with others. He did not have good news. Something huge, a monster of bizarre shapeform and powers, was invading the Known Lunar Labyrinth. Yet it was not alone, with other threats invading with it of which some were known and others unknown. At least a third of the other forces were Deathlordic in nature.

Another secret colony, like that of Raccoona, was Bridbarra but this colony was under threat as the undead invaded in in swarms and with them came glimmering mists. The sounds of combat were busy but in truth they came only from autorobotic defence security network-systems. The last lifeform, of Bridbarra, had died long ago if they had not fled to Raccoona or Ridgeburg. Ridgeburg was the other of the three colonies.

Zombies shambled along, in strange garbs, but there were also smarter gun using ghouls and exotic power using lichs. Thankfully the lichs were far fewer than the ghouls who were far fewer than the zombies.

There was no life there; it was a trap set by the True Eternals. As the great swarming army, of the undead, was drawn by false life energies they came into a terrible bowl of frictionless surface. Zombies, ghouls, slid hopelessly down into the great center of that massive trap. As they did they splashed into liquid that was salt water with other special ingredients of anti-undeath. Things died quickly, thrashing and collapsing. The low flying lichs were pulled into the liquid by metallic tentacles or just fell in as they were no longer able to draw power from lesser undead.

It was the third such undead army to be trapped in Bridbarra but would be the last as the Great Enemy learned, at last, to send nothing more there. After a while the colony destroyed itself with a large nuclear blast and was no more.

One 85.1[135]{135}

The monster half floated, half stomped on great legs, across the landscape that it devastated as it moved. The great monstrosity smashed forests with its great pads of feet, smashed at settlements with massive tentacles, snapped at aircraft with longer thinner tentacles and unleashed jets of burning jets. With the great beast came hundreds of much smaller, but still very large, versions of the monster along. Then there were thousands of even smaller versions of the same, though these were about as large as a typical family car. Now and then the great monster would pluck up a smaller version of itself and swallow it up, using a irising slimy hole of a mouth of which it had a few. This explained why the lesser monsters seemed wary of their much bigger 'cousin'.

Deathlordic Forces were there as deathnoids, death-orbs, deathjets and in other forms including distorted humans with death-orb like helmets. This time there were big clumsy, armoured, machines using tracks or wheels or both; these landships were dotted with turrets with many kinds of weapons but also other devices except those machines dedicated to other purposes that had no turrets. There were fewer flying machines, slow and powerful but lacking in agility, like slow flying weapons platforms.

They were heading towards the large settlement of Cranfordis, that was only about 540 kilometres from the edge of the Known Lunar Labyrinth. Guardia, UNMSIA, and militia forces were rushing to gather and intercept the great beast force before it could strike Cranfordis.

The great monster was soon named MaxTentacular, the smaller ones were miditentaculars and the 'small' ones were minitentaculars.

Long range missiles struck the great beast and exploded savagely; in theory the very high explosive warheads should not done great damage but the creature somehow absorbed much of the kinetic energies, utilising them. Still, some harm was done and the great beast slowed even as it regenerated health with disturbing quickness; as it did so it swallowed a few smaller tentaculars as if gaining resources from doing so. It made no attempt to strike at the Deathlordic Forces, to feed on them.

More long range missiles struck at the beast but this time they were destroyed, before they could actually hit it, by Deathlordic energy weapons.

The AraHeart shivered and the AraAncients dealing with it did the same.

The shiver went through out the Known Lunar Labyrinth and beyond. It was felt in everything that was spoken of as separate structures such as Earthtropolis and Labyrinthburg. Yet now they came together fully as one, including Spacetropolis and Moontropolis.

The RainbowBaby was restless for a moment and was comforted, in its various aspects, by various entities.

Then the shivering was gone but the Known Lunar Labyrinth had changed in a very important, if discrete, fashion.

The trap, for the Great Enemy, was being set in its final stage of preparation.

In the everything, that was nothing, that was sometimes mistaken for the Nullvoid, the voices constantly whispered to one another that reflected all of the facets of Multiversal existence.

Then one, strong, voice spoke more loudly and the whispering ceased as if those behind the whispering were listening. "Humanity, of Terra, has been sorted and distributed to where it must need be. In the Known Lunar Labyrinth a long term process is coming to completion, a long term plan will have its finality. What was unbalanced will become rebalanced. Now all that must happen is for more exotic human elements to be added to the grand trap that is the Known Lunar Labyrinth. We have waited a very long time for true justice to be done; not revenge but true justice, and soon we will have it."

The strong voice ceased speaking and soon the whispering, of many voices, began again.
