I don't know about you, but I would not trust a being whose favorite snow-globe is the one with the nuclear mushroom cloud and the happily grinning guy with the detonator.

that was my favorite snow-globe too

I don't trust you either. (J/K)

(Joking aside, I have already explained in a previous post why I don't trust Mr. House, his selection of a favorite snow-globe just reinforces my conviction that he is unfit for the role of the 'Savior of Humanity').

Bah, he just wants a New Vegas free of Legion and NCR control, and ultimately just wants to make money for whatever he does (R&D?). I'm pretty sure he has no intention of being the "savior of humanity", considering he lives in a bubble and can't leave.

Do you seriously think any of the other families would do his job better with minimal loss of life? People are downright scared of House and his robots, and that's a good thing in a world without law and order. All you really have to do is look at how the other Families run to see the problem (the Omertas, for example) - without intervention, they are just as cut-throat as you think House is, and many of the people surrounding Vegas are not exactly friendly or mean well with their intentions either. House' army of Robots is about the best deterrent a post-apocalyptic society could have.

And further - he rules Vegas, and I don't get the air of an "oppressed" people - they all seem to be having a jolly good time to me. I still see drunk NCR troops and people frequenting the casinos, and they're all making money, which is pretty much the entire point of what House wants in the end.

I also don't think I've heard any of them talking about how oppressive and evil House is either. They were actually surprised someone was let in to the 38, which only proves that House is a recluse that rules from afar.

Jolly good time? People frequenting casinos and drunk NCR troopers are not equal to jolly good times, unless you are Mr. House who lives as a parasite feeding on human weakness. They are all making money? The casinos are making money, people going there are losing money.

I dunno being drunk, gambling and getting hookers seems like a jolly good time to me... I mean after a long hard day of wanton destruction in the desert who wouldn't like to spend some of their hard earned caps on a cold beer, a hot girl and some recreational gambling..

Probably the 'hot girl' who is forced to please a half-drunk, stinking NCR soldier will disagree. Also, from what I saw, the Omertas used drugs to get the girls addicted, and they do not really seem to be free to leave.

Ooookay, I think you maybe have an entirely different outlook on that than I do.

They are all making money? The casinos are making money, people going there are losing money.

Is there really something wrong with that? And I meant the casino's anyway.

Why go to Vegas and not gamble? That's totally defeating the point of what Vegas is about, even in the real world.

Winning is nice, but that really isn't the point either.

I didn't miss anything...

Mr. House could be described as efficient and pragmatic. His motives are pure' date=' though sometimes cold and ruthless.[/b'] He foresees the rebuilding of humanity on the shoulders of New Vegas' economic strength (namely, the tourist economy). For instance, he boasts that he could have a man in space within 50 years; within 100 years he claims he will have colonization ships ready to find an unpolluted planet. He does not wish to be worshiped, or to rule the Wasteland, but to maintain economic control and ownership of New Vegas (specifically the Strip), and believes he can do so through his Securitron army. It's important to note that he "owns" all of the casinos on the strip and the families simply lease them from him. He sees the NCR's wealth as an asset to his plans but wishes to avoid annexation and keep Vegas independent. Anyone and anything that stands in his way will be removed, with money or force.

He sounds just like a businessman. Nothing wrong with that at all.

I think you're taking this a liiiitle to seriously, so I'm going to go now...

A ruthless businessman who ignores the immediate needs of his surroundings (e.g. Freeside) to pursue his elitist ideas. I think in a post-apocalyptic world where survival of humanity is at stake, isolationist elitism has no place. As I said, I hold the The Kings in much higher regard than Mr. House.

I just showed the other side of the coin. My brother's girlfriend works for a drug rehab center that treats 'ex-working girls' too, so more or less I get a first-hand account of what's going on - I just can't help taking this a tad bit seriously. Sorry about that.

UPDATE: Finally I managed to finish the game: I got the "good karma, independent Vegas" ending, which - at least - did not show my decision about Mr. House's fate in a bad light. "Supporting the ideals of independence, the Courier was recognized as the woman responsible for a truly free New Vegas. She ensured that Mr. House's tyranny was broken and that neither Caesar's Legion nor NCR would ever gain control over New Vegas."

Well..................if you'd prefer not to suffer the karma loss, and existential soiling of your soul, resulting from your "removing" Mr. House from this plane, for the right number of caps........................I'm your dog. ;)
