Nexus permissions rules (Compilation Patch)

I think your ideas are great Zenball! But I can understand most of them would take quite a bit of time to implement.

I think you are right that the rating system of Kudos is partly to blame for this sometime zealous guarding of mods. How about if members could disable the ability to give them Kudos, then members making compilations or such for the benefit of the community could waver the right to Kudos as a sign of goodwill. I believe that many does not even care for the Kudos, but just want to help people.

If I add a bug fix category you're going to want to start telling people that things put in that category are open source which is something I don't have the time to code in.

If you do agree that it's a good solution and a feature that will likely be implemented when you do have time, is it unreasonable to suggest that for the moment, you use your editorial discretion to make an exception to the current policy for Zenball's mod (or any similar projects if Zenball no longer intends to continue with his)?

As one who knows a bit of PHP, I can fully appreciate the time it would take to code a proper solution. Maybe the customizations made to the site don't allow for a situation like this.

In the meantime though, wouldn't it be useful to create the category (something a moderator can do) and stick some quick text in there or in the TOS itself stating that any bugfixes uploaded to that section are to be considered "open source" for the good of the community?

It really is rather absurd to assert that even fixes with no other possible solution are entitled to exclusive protection because someone is faster at clicking checkboxes and uploading files.
