dominick1233
mods are for the community, I do agree that people should be paid for their hard work however this is where optional donations come in.
JangoFett
I concur with the idea that if steam is going to offer a way to pay for mods, it should be a -donation.- Even make it a huge, big, fat, "DONATE IF YOU LIKE THIS MOD" Notification when you choose to install the mod. Or a reminder, after you play Skyrim for a few hours with the mod installed, and you quit "Did you like the mod you just played? Donate to the author!" notification. I would be perfectly fine with that, as a way to remind people that would donate, but forget to after they play with the mod for some time, or just forget. But -requiring- you pay for mods? Especially new versions of mods that were free previously? Awful, awful, AWFUL, AWFUL idea. Those aren't mods anymore, that's fanmade DLC.

callmepopy
This marks the beginning of the end of modding communities as we know them.. we tried to warn you all, but you didn't listen. Yea, you had a few years with skyrim, but think about the next TES game. You will not have the unlimited supply of game content that Nexus has supplied us with for skyrim, oblivion or fallout.. all of that will be gone. The high end mods will cost a lot of money (relatively). Wet and Cold is already $5 on SW... I've had and used that mod forever, Gopher even included it in his "must have mods" list.it's obvious that several mod authors were holding their precious new projects for this release...the worst part of all of this is now we'll have 3 separate groups of mod authors professionalseasonednoob you think it's hard to get past that noob stage now, just wait until no seasoned or professional authors can be bothered to help anyone else with collaborations and guidance... I've been trying to get a simple vanilla script altered for like a month now, and no1 will even take 10 mins to look at it.. after this, no author who has the experience will take time for a no-name author to help them out.(exceptions always - save your comment)Less mod authors = less mods = higher rate for mods = paying more for what we got for free with skyrim.once again, the greedy few have destroyed something beautiful that everyone could love and enjoy.anyone who supports this is helping to destroy it.Steam says "now you can support your mod authors"we already could via donations.. but steam wants to get some of that donation money, and they've done nothing to earn it.. steam doesn't make mods or content, they just make money selling it.mod authors only get %25 of the price, if this was about how now we can support them, then why does steam take so much of the profit, they have no overhead to cover, it's pure robbery..You'd have to be moderately retarded not to see this.
