It's something Bethesda can't deny - The Oblivion community is still alive and kicking after four years, and it looks like it won't appear to end anytime soon. While we're at v1.2.0.416, it's obvious that with the increase of performance from other, later games (FO3, FO:NV), the same should be applied to a game that's as just as widely moddable and still played to this day instead leaving it in the dust while the team works on a new game. So, I say, why not take a few people aside and make one or two final patches for IV before the release of V to get some attention on the series again?

And, if it was done, what should be focused on the most? I'd think the biggest focus is gaining performance, mostly on things like FOV handling and AI performance, adding in full multi-core support (which IMO should have been added on earlier for a game like this), and add a few new graphical addons that have came to be, like Depth of Field and HDR+AA support.

That would most likely be a premiere. I voted yes becouse it's true, I'd like to, but I don't think it will ever happen. Nothing is perfect and Oblivion doesn't make an exception. It has it's flaws, but overall it's a great game.

I'd also prefer them to work on TES V rather than patching up an old game, wich at this point doesn't realy need any other patches. A new patch might redirect some attention to it, but not much. I admire your intentios though, I think that you're a big fan of this game.

Cheers,

At least fix the Havok issues and AI. There's no reason why stuff should go flying halfway across a room just because you walk by it, nor should enemies prioritize weaker foes over your character!

The first and foremost would be full multicore support, nothing else beyond that. With multicore, every single performance problem is fixed (well, not for Pentium 4 and lower users, but hey... these days multicore is like a staple)

Since you asked three, the other two would be the Havok engines and... a bit more story. Story is what's interesting about vanilla Oblivion anyway

I'm going to have to say no. Don't get me wrong; I would love it if it WAS updated again, but I think it would be too much of a waste of resources on Beth's part. Yes the game is still very popular, but wait till we get a hold of TES V. I'd rather have the team working on a new game (with a superior engine no less) than a game made in 2006 (which still runs fine for me). This is not so much about personal preference, but proper allocation of resources. Beth gains nothing from releasing a new patch other than fan appreciation (which doesn't pay salaries) and loses time that could be better spent elsewhere.
