Out of Memory error while in New Vegas

So I'm in New Vegas proper and go to enter the Atomic Wrangler and my game crashes and I get an out of memory error. I've gone though the forums, added the NV4GB loader (still get the error even with Steam running), and looked at everything on FNVedit and there aren't any conflicts with the mods I'm using. I have no idea how to fix this so if anyone has any ideas I'd apreciate the help. Since I know the question of which mods I'm using will be asked here is the list:

Out of memory error means just what it says. Your computer ran out of memory to handle the next part of the game that it tried to load.

This can be caused by things outside of the game as well as things in the game - especially if you have a 32 bit computer or just 4G of ram on a 64 bit system. For best results on a 64 bit system, you need at least 5G of RAM, for a 32 bit, 4G is the max no matter what you do, and the game will not be able to use all of that as Windows and anything else installed will take a portion of it. http://s1.zetaboards.com/bbenlibrary/topic/4865172/1/

As for the game, I see a lot of resource hungry mods in your load order that eat ram. Anything that increases resolution - such as improving what things look like takes extra ram. And mods that combine cells that were originally separate, such as that open strip mod - will use a lot more ram than the original. ( I never liked the way Beth divided the strip into several cells, but I do understand why they did it that way) And mods that add a lot of scripts will also use more ram. By themselves each of these mods only takes a small amount of more ram, but those small amounts soon add up.

And, you also have to consider video ram as well as system ram. A video card with 512K of ram will run out a lot faster than one with 2G. Whenever you go from one cell to another - the game has to load the new cell into memory. To speed things up, they may not purge the entire previous cell first limiting the available ram for the new cell. :pinch:

Jesus Guys, why use a jackhammer when their is a perfectly good clawhammer on the shelf? Dude, have you considered merging that massive list of Esps to decrease your load order processing? If you cut down on that laundry list of esp's checking one another against those esms your game should run A LOT smoother and the crashing might stop.

@ bben46: I understand the ram requirements and exceed the ram needs. My computer is well equiped to run New Vegas without any problems. Or at least there shouldn't be any problems but the Out of Memory error persists.

@ jim_uk I've tried with the 4GB loader and the game still gives me an Out of Memory error when trying to enter the Atomic Wrangler.

@ jcdenton2012 The game has run fine without having the need to merge anything. It's quite stable and I haven't had problems except the Out of Memory error while trying to enter the Atomic Wrangler which shouldn't happen with 16 gigs of ram.

The Atomic Wrangler loads a lot of stuff, so it tends to be one of the first places to break when you run into memory issues.

I personally ran into this issue when I added New Vegas Redesigned (I think version 3) and found that a lot of the textures didn't work properly at lower texture resolutions. I switched everything to high resolution textures under my graphics properties, and from then on out every time I entered the Wrangler my game crashed with an out of memory error.

The fix for me was to set the graphics back to using low resolution textures, which significantly reduces their memory usage. The difference between lower and higher resolution textures on my machine isn't that noticeable (especially since I don't exactly have the sharpest vision in the world these days), but depending on your system and your graphics settings it might be more noticeable than that. You also are likely to run into the issue that made me switch to higher resolution textures in the first place. There are a lot of folks out there creating textures for mods that only work on the highest texture resolution. My solution for those, since I can't run the game in highest texture resolution or it crashes, was to simply open up the misbehaving textures as I found them using Paint.Net with the dds plugin, and just saving them again. Sometimes I would have to fiddle with the normal maps too, which involves GIMPing since Paint.Net doesn't handle normal maps (or if it does, I don't know how to do it, so someone please tell me).
