Most people on Steam are calling Valve greedy for giving the modders only 25%, only a few spoiled brats are actually blaming the modders for anything.

But of course many say that if every contacted modder had flatly refused to participate in the trial run, we wouldn't have this mess.

"We will see more quality, better support, and better updates from modders."

You keep telling yourself that.

"very, VERY few people are going to get rich doing this. Very few. Think about this before calling people greedy."

Certainly not any modders.

"very, VERY few people are going to get rich doing this. Very few. Think about this before calling people greedy."

While I agree with what you are saying, is it not the above that is part of the problem. As a lot of people will be doing a lot of work but not sharing in most of the financial benefits, the benefits that keep a roof over our heads. The point being that it is not only modding that things like this are happening.

Full respect to you, I am just trying to bring up a point because I think this discussion really matters if we (as the consumer/content provider) are going to help Valve avoid exploiting its customers.

I am so sick of seeing the modding community acting like drama queens and claiming that everything is going to hell. I'm also livid at other people giving so much hate to other mod creators.

I'd like to now point to Xilverbullet's Midas Magic mod and witness the wonders of Skyrim's "community". Lovely. Glad to be part of this, guys!

EDIT: I Have changed my mind and all my mods will remain nexus exclusives.

My mod, Phenderix Magic Evolved, will now be hosted on the steam workshop. (pending approval now)

The skyrim nexus version will exist as an old version that can still be used.

The new version which requires DLC and adds over 100 more spells will be available only on the steam workshop for $2.99.

I have put more than 1000+ hours into making this mod and would like to be compensated for people using my work.

Many mod authors put a lot of work into their creations and I believe this is a great opportunity for the community to give back.

I have modded for years and only one person has ever donated money to me. This is an obvious sign that the donation system does not work.

No one is entitled to anything, let alone free mods. People releasing mods for free should have gotten a lot more respect and thanks for the amount of time they spent on their creations.

The community needs to settle down and realize that in the long run this is a good thing and will result in much better mods being made.

This development has reinvigorated my interest in Skyrim modding and I will definitely continue to mod for Fallout 4 (whenever it is announced...E3 please!?!

With every purchase of my mod, Skyrim Nexus will be getting a share of the money.

Please be understanding of this decision. I did not make it lightly.

All of my other 7 mods will be Nexus exclusives and not ever be ported to the Steam workshop.

EDIT: I Have changed my mind and all my mods will remain nexus exclusives.

I sincerely wish you good luck.

As for me, I'm going to take a break from modding Skyrim for a while. Well except for updating one because Raulfin is updating the combat system in his and I feel obliged to keep mine up to date. Edited by BluemaxDR

Thank you and apart from questioning whether you feel it totally justified to advertise Steam Workshop on the Nexus, I would like to ask if you think you should get at least 75% of that $2.99.

To pay rent with. Edited by sunshinenbrick

So, if a mod that uses stolen assets actually gets through the "Under Review" (I know, how likely is that?! (Takes tongue out of cheek)) and makes money but is then found out to be such the money goes into Steam's coffers? Isn't that called profiteering?

For me the worst part is that a lot of mods nowadays require compatability for others, which means if I want my mods to be as compatible as possible I have to buy said mods! Sorry, not gonna happen!

Last thought, I was thinking of doing a retexture paid for mod for socks, how many colours does a HDMI 40bit system generate? 281.5 trillion if I remember rightly, anyone want a new pair of socks or two? lol
