So tired of the hate and fearmongering

Yes - spending a minor part of the video saying "yeah maybe this is a bad idea" then the rest paying tribute to the few good paid mods while making fun of ever anti-paid mod aspect and painting the ENTIRE anti-paywall community as a bunch of welfare bandits is completely a fair observation. Meanwhile, saying "stop insulting people" while insulting people completely has no bearing to the person saying it. So far, three people here are convinced it's okay to insult one side only. One of them is Gopher.

I cannot even come on, and look for new cool mods without being bombarded with all the spiteful piles of crap. All these mods that are being released right now as some kind of half assed protests...It is bull. If people put half as much effort into trying to produce good mods as they do into feeling butthurt, then this community could be great. But so many people are just being mean and spiteful and selfish. And if you get bent out of shape by my saying that...then congratulations, you are probably one of them.

I could, but then I would still feel like I should be around to reply. If I am going to put something out for people, I feel like I should support it. If I am not going to be around to support it, I don't feel like I should leave it flapping in the breeze and causing anyone game problems.

If you can't see your own hypocrisy, then I can't say I'm surprised. But if you feel it is warranted to continue insulting people while complaining about other people being insulted, then that's on you. I can only stop to question you "do you really think it's fair to target those you don't agree with and not self-reflect in the process?"

When logging on to the Nexus or the Bethesda forums I feel depressed just knowing what I am in store for there. The hobby has become more of a trial and is not so much fun anymore. Sad, so sad.

Ahh, got it. I think I understand what you mean now. And I fully admit, I am a horrible b&@*$. I don't like people, quite frankly most of them confuse and bewilder me. I cannot understand why people have to hate and be mean to each other over something simple. Why do people kill each other for a different color of skin? Why do people kill each other over religion? Why do people kill each other because someone wants to love with a person of the same gender? I just don't understand people, and therefore I don't like being around them. I fully and readily admit to that.

 

Why are people being hateful, telling mod authors to f*ck off and die, telling mod authors that they are just being greedy for making a bad choice? I don't understand it considering it is just a game, and there are so many more important things in life than a game.

 

So no, I came to the nexus to look at mods, to post my own, and to talk to people about fun things that we had in common. Not to get involved in a bunch of drama. But that is the thing now, I can't. I cannot log on, look at the hotfiles or recent uploads, and not see all the hate.

 

People could have a civil discussion about this, people are free to disagree with anything I say, but a rational, coherent argument is important, not spewing hate and outright lies and venom. I don't want to be around it...which is why I said I was not going to be around for awhile. I was not singling any individual out, I was simply stating that I don't want to be around hateful people. A majority of this community has turned into an argument. I don't want to be part of either side, all I even came here for was to make mods, talk to people with similar interests, and play a game. Now I cannot even do that, so no, I don't see a point in hanging around until after this whole thing dies down.

Its not bull, its called protesting and I absolutely love the people doing it, nobody is forcing you to look on steam to watch it, your only doing this to yourself.

You pulled down your mods, imo your even more butthurt than those who your pointing the finger at.

Instead of pulling down your mods, you could just as well focus on making a new mod to make this community great!

 

And FYI, this community was great for over 10 years and in less than 2 days Valve/Steam/Bethesda managed to completely corrupt it, if you want a great community like it has always been then you should...I dunno...perhaps join in with the protestors and put the blame where it belongs.

I myself have been a fan to the flame. One thing is sure, the mod community is now split, it's almost like in Skyrim. The problem is, trying to come here, or on beth's forums doesn't help. It's apparently too soon to mend this wound. There's always one person who will reignite the flame. I'm definitely no better than you in that I myself act out of spite of something. The death of Skyrim modding is not going to be because free modders turned to paid modders, it's going to be because the community is fast losing interest in the game. I even quit playing Skyrim. I moved on to other games where the communities are not constantly at each other's throats.

 

The sad truth is, this game was once a bastion of escape, where people could worry-free remove themselves from their troubles. Now it's just another emotional toll. This is why I hate the paywall, and I hate Valve. I mean, the more people argue, the more entrenched and alienated the sides become. People who think they're being a voice of reason on either side end up giving more ammunition to everyone.

Its not bull, its called protesting and I absolutely love the people doing it.

But, if instead of protesting people would put their effort into building a good mod, that would be awesome! I am not ragging on NerdofPrey, he was the first one I saw, and personally I thought his beggar was funny and fit the situation well. But there are so many out now. And some of them are just being hateful to other modders.

Please read above. I have hidden them since i will not be around to provide support. This is not a protest, this is an "I don't feel like being around hateful people, so I will not be on the Nexus, and I will not be able to provide support. If I am going to post mods, I want to be able to provide support for them, and it bothers me not to." I am still working on 2 other large mods, but those are not done yet, and with all the conflict flying around, it is not fun anymore.
