Sinophile
Zomg, I saw that Steam was having a sale, and instantly browsed for an RPG. After careful consideration, I decided on this one:http://store.steampowered.com/app/40300/ After that, I visited Direct2Drive and...Hey wait a minute... http://www.direct2drive.com/3/8561/product/Buy-Risen-Download The same game that is "on-Sale" at Steam is 22 bucks, yet the exact same game not on sale is 15 bucks on Direct2Drive.. I can Haz refund?
SandsOfTime404
Hey, it's called good marketing man. It's on sale as far as Steam is concerned. There are some actual good deals going on if you look hard enough though. Edited December 30, 2010 by SandsOfTime404
DonKnotts
I paid nearly fifty bucks for it when I bought it. Man I loved that game. Those guys at PB now how to make an RPG.
Feltmarskal
That's not a reason, it is your stupid mistake, so don't blame Steam for that.
Povuholo
Risen had a bigger discount on Steam as a one day deal during this christmas sale I believe. And I don't know if Risen is moddable, but D2D is nothing but trouble when it comes to modding games. I won't ever get a game from there, even if it's cheaper. Sinophile
I paid nearly fifty bucks for it when I bought it. Man I loved that game. Those guys at PB now how to make an RPG. I was a bit disappointed at the game itself. The interface was less than intuitive, and the quests seemed to consist mostly or running around in circles talking to people. Also, the dialog was limited. Risen seemed to combie the worst aspects of Bioware and Bethesda games. Still, it seems to have garnered some good reviews. Sinophile
Circuit City has a price-matching Guarantee. They one time sold me a game for $28 that was at Best Buy for $30, even though most other places were retailing the same title for $50. Likewise, shouldn't Steam do the same? TheVampireDante
Only if the company decides that they want to, they're not required to do anything of the like if they don't see a need to do it. Different marketing and sales models. As much as you, and perhaps others would like to see such a thing from them and other distribution sources it's sometimes just not fitting with the companies methods. Feltmarskal: Small note - calling someone stupid (via making a mistake) isn't polite, try and be a little more careful about how you word things in future.
