Dimensionlord1
Okay this is just a crazy idea that popped into my head. Seeing as Hist Trees are according to lore sentient could one become a Dragonborn? Oh and I know what your thinking "Wouldn't Dragonborn be something passed on by a parent?" is so then good question. I'm guessing that the gods could always just make a mortal Dragonborn when they are born despite whether or not a parent is Dragonborn. So my question is, Could a Hist Tree be Dragonborn? Also the sleeping tree at that giant's camp. I think it could possibly be a Hist Tree. What if that tree was Dragonborn and our character we created never existed and thus it was up to the tree to stop Alduin? I mean it's a tree... How on earth would it get around or do anything besides stand still? Also how would it shout? Edited July 24, 2015 by Dimensionlord1
saurusmaximus
The definition given to us in the game says that a Dragonborn is one who carries the blood of dragons in his/her veins. So, that would exclude any plant life, sentient or not. As far as Sleeping Tree is concerned, the lore isn't clear on whether it's a Hist tree or not. kimmera
Depends on the physiology of Hist trees. For all we know they aren't strictly plants....
saurusmaximus
Yes, but the lore articles I've read on the subject always refer to them having sap, which strongly suggests they are more plant than animal. Of course, this being the TES universe, that doesn't really mean s**t.
Lachdonin
No. The Hist cannot be Dragonborn, because they are far, FAR too different. They are more different than the Daedra. The Hist are timeless remnants of something before, dating to the earliest epochs of the aubris (and possibly earlier) and are seperate from the domain of Akatosh. The Dragon of Time has no authority nor power over them. They don't even have souls as others understand them, but rather share their memories, thoughts and essence through their sap (yes, in Oblivion you drink tortured-Hist-soul). CaarosKingOfChaos
The Hist Trees are directly connected to Sithis, and since Akatosh is the one to grant dragonborn power and has no power to affect the creations of the Dread Lord, no. A hist tree could not be a dragonborn.
Sevlucent
That would be an awesome animated sketch!

A hist tree could not be a dragonborn. How does that follow? A Dragonborn can be not just a member of the Dark Brotherhood but their Listener and thus in the service of Sithis. The dragonborn is granted his or her draconic blood by Akatosh at birth, unless they somehow became listener while they were a friggin fetus. Sithis is far stronger than any of the Et'Ada, and can easily overwrite any divine marking, while still leaving the powers it gave. A dragonborn may be a creation of Akatosh, but that does not and can not stop Sithis from doing whatever the heck he wants to.
