BigBizkit
I don't understand most of what you are trying to say. However, 1. Joining the circle without becoming a werewolf -> there is a mod that overhauls the companions that has that feature (I use it). I think it is called ESF or sth.2. There is a mod called "molag bal's quest for good guys" or similar that - I believe - does that3. You do not have to do any of those things you mention to aquire the ebony smithing perk oO³
simtam
It does sound like this game trivia quiz. I guess s/ebony smithing/ebony chainmail/ I only don't get "an honest answer to a guard".
jaxtax1
Thanks for the info on ESF and molag's quest for good guys. There's a Daedric "Proving" quest that rewards the successful contestant with the ebony smithing perk. The Dragborn always denies, falsely ,when apprehended by a guard. lofgren
The Ebony Smithing perk is selected from the perk tree in the same fashion as every other smithing perk, no quest required. I've seen several calls to make Grelod worse or allow the player to avoid killing her and I must say it is the strangest thing to me. You kill dozens of men and women in this game just because you blundered into their cave and they tried to defend themselves. But a woman who is chaining children to the wall until they soil themselves is somehow too saintly to be harmed. Of all the characters in the game, I relish killing her the most. That ****ing **** needs to die.
Boombro
The Ebony Smithing perk is selected from the perk tree in the same fashion as every other smithing perk, no quest required. I've seen several calls to make Grelod worse or allow the player to avoid killing her and I must say it is the strangest thing to me. You kill dozens of men and women in this game just because you blundered into their cave and they tried to defend themselves. But a woman who is chaining children to the wall until they soil themselves is somehow too saintly to be harmed. Of all the characters in the game, I relish killing her the most. That ****ing **** needs to die.Bandits rape, steal and kill alongside the fact they try to kill you, many in game text and npcs also say that they raid villages and steal from caravans and leave them to die. Other npcs give you a lot of time to go away, they jump to attack. you, their fighting comments reflect such things:"Die already so I can take your stuff!""You'll be so much easier to rob when you're dead!""Gonna split your belly like an old woman's purse!" And some idle are rather disturbing:"...kill 'em, he talks to me again like that... get him when he's sleeping... or poison his meat... see how he likes that.""...told him to just hand over the gold, but did he listen? Oh, no... they always have to fight back..." There is also the fact the there are bounties over their heads, that more than enough to make their deaths okay. That why no one says it bad to kill them in the first place. They are horrible for everyone. Grelod is indeed a bad person, but I don't recall her chaining the kids as you suggest. But beating them and not giving them food, without knowing how she even beat them in the first place. Killing her and running away is at least twice as bad. You are committing murder, instead of reporting her or something like a normal person. That why some players want to her to be worse, to make the murder at least justified. Or a more sane, logical and reasonable solution. Edited October 3, 2015 by Boombro
lofgren
OK, so if that room with straw on the floor, buckets, and chains on the wall isn't for chaining children up, what do you suppose it is for? Grelod is protected by the corrupt Riften authorities, who are fully aware of what transpires there. I don't typically endorse capital punishment or vigilante justice, but given that you spend a significant portion of the game administering both it seems weird to me that people balk at doing so to the child torturer. "Bandits do X" is not a legitimate reason for killing random people in the woods. If you have evidence of a specific crime committed by a specific bandit, then he should serve his debt to society. That's justice. Killing an entire room full of people, against whom you have no evidence whatsoever, and then shrugging it off as "Meh, bandits like totally rape and stuff. I'm sure these guys were probably bandit rapists so it's cool that I slaughtered them all," but then going "WHAT? Kill a sadistic child-torturer, against whom there is substantive evidence as well as victim testimony, and yet the authorities allow it to persist without lifting a finger? That's so wrong!" is messed up. That's Trump logic.
Boombro
I did not notice the wall shackles before you pointed that out. Your point is taken. One can find dead bodies in many forts owned by bandits( fort green wall has three.) along with cages with dead bodies in them ( fort greymore.) also, many bandits owned locations have what seems like cargo, rugs and crates, hinting stolen goods. Some forts where taken from the army and you can find dead soldiers( A note in Fort Neugrad and a dead npc in fort greymore.) or from npcs (Staggering Sabercat.) The player can also be killed by falling rocks from bandit placed traps, sniped by bandit archers or killed because of failed toll speech checks. And I'm pretty sure it okay to kill a whole bandit group ganging up on you to tear you apart. As I have said, other npcs warn you to go away if you entered their homes, while bandits run after you screaming bleedy murder when your eyes meet like pokemon trainers. lofgren
I'm certainly not saying that killing bandits is chaotic evil or anything like that. The morality of a lawless place like Skyrim is not the same as in the modern US, regardless. I just find it peculiar where the line is drawn.
