Eyam3 Posted October 13, 2015 Share Posted October 13, 2015 Hi all, I'm looking for a player home with crafting/alchemy/enchanting facilities on one cell & plenty of storage, any recommendations? Here's what I've tried so far, & reasons why they're not quite right (or possibly don't seem right - Sjel Blad might just need getting used to/more investigation) : Breezehome Fully Upgraded : very good. Pluses are crafting/alchemy'enchanting all on one cell. Minor negative is a lack of storage - there are only 4 chests in the basement. Another negative (for me) is that it's in Whiterun (my game crashes there occasionally). Also, not grand enough. OTH Whiterun is convenient, & there is a carriage. Riverwood Estate (vanilla, not yet modded, I have been looking at a mod to upgrade it, but am thinking of trying Bluecreek Estate instead, which is basically the other side of the lake). Pluses for this are better storage options in the basement than with BFU & it's grander. However, the basement is in its own cell. There is a carriage ... but it's one way. Sjel Blad Castle. I've installed this but only spent half an hour running around it. It's certainly grand enough, possibly too big. I've not tried the cloud storage, & am wary of that - I'd prefer just lots of safes/chests. Also, the smithing area is separate from the alchemy/enchanting area. Getting too & from it seems a problem, unless I fast travel - reading up on it though, I probably just need to find the waygates to solve that problem. jones177 Posted October 13, 2015 Share Posted October 13, 2015 For the Whiterun/Riverwood area I use Riverside Lodge & Elysium Estate for the simple reason that they don't cause CTDs in my game. For a lake side home I use Mammoth Manor. I have tried many homes. These are the best for cell stability & zero navmesh issues. Later Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ToppDog Posted October 13, 2015 Share Posted October 13, 2015 As has already been mentioned, Rayek's End, Elysium Estate, & Mammoth Manner are great mods that would probably work. I also like the Northern Star Retreat (the older version), & if you're looking for every possible crafting option in one room, my mod Dragons Keep has a basement under the smaller house that has everything with about a dozen or so storage chests scattered about. It's a large mod, but nowhere near as laggy as some of the big castle mods. It's a boarding school mod, so there will be lots of kids roaming around the main castle. There's a video on the description page that shows the basement towards the end of the video to give you an idea of what it's like down there. Eyam3 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Share Posted October 14, 2015 Thanks all - I went with Elysium Estate & crossed my fingers it wouldn't increase my Whiterun crash rate :) So far, no problems, I've just looked at Whiterun Estate on Youtube, looks very nice, but the smithing area is outside & the alchemy/enchanting areas inside, so I'm glad I went Elysium. Elysium is almost perfect for me, well, it would be nice to have chests & safes in the crafting area, & ideally a wardrobe too by each crafting station to store alchemy clothing in one, enchanting clothing in another, smithing in a a third, but that's really a minor gripe. ToppDog Posted October 14, 2015 Share Posted October 14, 2015 You should be able to use Jaxons Utilities, etc. to duplicate chests & place them where you like, or just add them in with the CK if you know how. Perraine Posted October 22, 2015 Share Posted October 22, 2015 The Hearthfire player homes are all pretty good actually, plus the (cave) Player Home you get awarded in the Dragonborn DLC after completing the quest for the islands governor. There is also a great mod for Vindrell Hall (Markath PH) although the Forge and Library are separate zones.
