Tamara
I have been a TESsource fan / user practically from the beginning of its first incarnation. I just want to say - again - how much I appreciate this site. It is always the first one I go to for mods. Now that the new system tweaks have been around for a while, I want to say how much I appreciate the changes. The most convient one for me is the new downloading naming convention. It makes it much easier, now that the mod name comes first, to delete old files versions. One question and a related request: Some folks have merely posted an esp, which then automatically becomes renamed with the file number and -TESsource. I have been deleting the 'extra' information when I use the file, but I just started realising that I actually can't tell the difference between the name the author put - which may have included a version level - and what is 'extra'. Will it make any difference if I rename the file, and if so, should I be running it through the CS and saving under the new name? My related request: Is there a way to insure that modders are uploading a compressed file with the esp and a readme and not just an esp?TA

Only mods that use dialogue will have some trouble when you rename the esp because then it won't match the voices folder name. But since you can't really upload an esp file and voice files in one without compressing them, you don't really have to worry. My related request: Is there a way to insure that modders are uploading a compressed file with the esp and a readme and not just an esp?TAI suppose Dark0ne could make a change to the system so it doesn't allow people to upload a file with a .esp extension, but I don't think he'll do it. There's no rule saying you HAVE to make a readme or compress the file, and changing this will cause more confusion than it helps I think. But Dark0ne can speak for himself. I don't like how people named their own mods  even if they are in a package. Now, my mods have consisten naming in my folder and archive.Archive: <version>-<mod name>-TESSource ex. 2.2.1-Servant of the Dawn-TESSourceThe data folder is exactly the same except without the version or -TESSource except for Castle Domrose, because if I rename it, ALL my stuff in there will vanish, and I cannot have that. Definately no.You can be sure not everyone names these the same.
Povuholo
It shouldn't work; it does work. I've done it.Huh? Didn't I just say it works? Or do you mean for mods with dialogue? Maybe it didn't work for me because I edited the file after I changed the name...

Maybe it didn't work for me because I edited the file after I changed the name...What I was referring to was mods that have only an esp file. The modder may name the file, 'My great house.esp', but the naming convention that TESsource adds includes a file number and TESsource to the name of any file that is submitted. Any file that has other files associated with it will automatically have been compressed to include all the associated files, so nothing inside is changed, only the envelope. The filing convention of putting the version number before the name is not very helpful as it makes it difficult to notice which earlier file to delete in a large collection - even one like mine where the files are saved on my HD by catagory. Dark0ne
Hey Tamara, My related request: Is there a way to insure that modders are uploading a compressed file with the esp and a readme and not just an esp? Yeah, I'm working on getting some guides up to cover different aspects of using TESSource; downloading, extracting, compressing, etc. and once there's a relevent guide up I may well change the file name policy to only accept the current compressed file extensions (zip, rar, 7z, exe, etc.). That should answer the question!

Or is it? I would give you a kudo, but, I already did. Or maybe I didn't. Maybe I won't. Maybe I already gave you a kudo, but forgot.Ta! Come again, or I'll pluck out your eyes! (Shivering Ilses is getting to me, but maybe it isn't. Maybe I'm getting to it.)
