neonie
In terms of realism one looks for function over form I personally don't come to entertainment for "realism" though. I think there are a set of people who do and a set of people who don't (I exist ALL THE WAY on "don't", and tend to prefer mods and entertainement in general that doesn't give a damn about being "realistic".). Default Fallout exists in this really odd middle ground of realisim to me. The default in-game power armor isn't exactly "realistic" either since it's way too bulky for a normal human skeleton to actually fit in. Personally I would much rather have an unrealistic, aesthetically pleasing armor than a bulky armor that makes it so you can't even see your character. I'm not sure it's actually possible to mod the power armor in any aesthetically pleasing way though, since it changes your body shape when you enter it and you have to put your self inside of it, but what the hell do I know, modders can prove me horribly wrong later lol. Actually, what I would really like is either something that made Power Armor completely invisible or gave you some sort of Dennou Coil style goggles that just gave you the overlay without affecting your clothes at all, that way you could use other clothing mods and such with the power armor still. Of course! I get that! I'm there with you. I've been playing Elderscrolls and Fallout games for awhile now. I always tend to enjoy the more visually appealing armors over the crazy big power armor stuffs myself. i'm not a big fan of the FO default power armor. I feel the helmet is...just ungodly ugly, specially the big spotlight on it. It's one of the reasons I never used the PA in any of the games. Even now in FO4 i've only used the power armor twice, once for the begining in the main quest, and two to fight the Mirelurk Queen. I've even avoided some of the really good body armor in the game to get the look I currently like on my char. There is the two camps basically as you pointed out who want realism over all, and then those who just want to play a game and have it look how ever they want. I'm kind of a middle ground person. I like something to look both cool and put in an attempt at trying to be realisticish. But I'm not so worried about it that it makes me not enjoy the mods. But I do feel it shows a bit of skill on the modder's part to blend the two. And I like to endorse the people who go out of their way to do both. I'm sure once the GECK comes out the stuff you are looking for will start popping up. I may even indulge in some of it myself. I'm going to give Modding a try in this installment of FO, it will be my first time in item creation so I'm sure there will be some not so amazing results. But I've been around Nexus long enough I should give it a go and help the community. I do like the PA overlay changes to your inventory and map so i like your idea on the goggle/helmet. Flowerguy360
Yes. You might also consider taking a look at the Chinese Stealth Suit from FO3 for inspiration, or maybe some of the Combat Armor assets already in-game. It would be interesting to see some other "homebrew" power armor variants besides the Raider ones, like maybe with Flight Helmets and Goggles (or gas mask) thrown over combat armor limb pieces and a power armor torso core. Really, I think the key would simply be to make the Frame piece more feminine in form. The rest would follow. On an unrelated note, has anyone else noticed that the Enclave's Hellfire Armor isn't available in FO4? You would think there would be something out there, even with the Enclave essentially being kaput.
TheOriginalEvilD
I understand you, but that's not power armor. That's a regular set of armor, I'm sure there will be plenty of that to go around and hopefully make the female wanderers look sexy. I'm sure there is a middle ground somewhere. Most of the power armour in the previous games looks like something Tony Stark made in a cave. Compare that with the sleek stuff later in the film. It would be nice to have better looking female versions of all kinds of armour including combat and power armour, but I don't think it's necessary to be impractical either. In fact, impractical looking armour wouldn't interest me. @cedaie I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you can come up with. I get what you're saying here, but the problem I have is, if you can make the armor more sleek and less bulky for a woman, then you could do the same for a man. There have to be benefits from sleeker armor, like better agility, less weight (which would equal less power consumption, better speed, better reflexes, etc) so in this universe if it were feasible to do it for the gals, they would just do it for everyone. Now, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just saying that lore wise that's why you don't see it. It just doesn't make sense in a reality where a 90lb guy could also wear power armor. The idea is that it turns a normal person, male or female, into a beast. Now, I wouldn't be opposed to chick armor, but I'm sure what will ultimately happen are power armor sets with midriffs and cleavage showing and asses hanging out LOL. thunderlord2200
i might be in another land when i come to thinking this. but i like to see my player to get into a set of armor that looks like a iron man suit. i mean with the attached mini gun on the side and inter-graded weapon units along with with the ability to ether make it tougher and or give me quick reflaxs. or even get into a power armor that's like a dreadnought (i think i its the name. from war hammer 40,000k.. i no i no but i would love to run around in something like that and cause death everywhere.... xD.. i love the i canny looking set in power armor like a very sexy iron-man type suit.. that's made to fit everything tight ;) and shapes to someones body form even better. (like i seen some nicely ones made..
tjohnman
Although that art looks absolutely, jaw-droppingly amazing, I think the point of a power armor is to protect yourself, not to look sexy. It'd be like making a female version of a tank... What's the point? Now, if you did a regular armor set looking like this? Hell yeah!

cedaie
What they said ^ :P But as I said, I'm looking for Form-fitting. Not necessarily 'sexy'. Although, if rusted heavy metal plate armor is your thang, I won't judge. ;)
Aintiarna
I'm going with BOS at the moment and the heavy emphasis on power armour in the game is a bit of a drag I have to admit. Wandering around like a human tank is fun for a bit, but it would be nice to have other options that don't lead to insta-death the moment you see the words "legendary", "alpha", or "deathclaw". When the CK comes out, the first thing I'm going to do (as I did F:NV) is make my own versions of a whole range of existing clothing and armour with boosted ratings. Anyway, I have no artistic skills so I'll just be adjusting the numbers on the existing gear. Given the entry and exit animations, I'd imagine creating new models for power armour will not be an easy thing to do. If nothing comes of it, I think I'll be reasonably happy with the hardened combat armour design with the numbers tweaked a little.

I've killed some deathclaws with light armor. Just smart fighting and some drug usesages. Using the right guns at the right time is much bigger in this game then the last few or...at least I feel it is anyway. Legendary chars are generally a push over so far. The only ones that have given me a little trouble was a damn Gunner Lt that had a really nice assault rifle and armor. I used maybe ten stim packs. I just wish there was some in game skills that let you boost the armor bonuses for different types of armor.
