I am crashing after a few seconds.

1. Changed the .ini files, double, triple checked when installing Nexus

2. Installed some mods.

3. Tried to run the game...CRASH.

4. Uninstalled Mods, closed Nexus, restarted FO4....CRASH

2. Checked plugins.txt and DLCList.txt in the appdata folder. They are correct.....CRASH

3. Tried starting the fallout 4 launcher after deleting .ini files to recreate them and that does not work....CRASH.

I know others have to have the same issue. Is there a solution? Thanks,

Yeah, try this:

Steam Library > Fallout 4 (Right Click) > Properties > Local Files Tab > Verify Integrity of Game Cache

nvm apparently the issue is being caused by my graphics card and the game. just happened to coincide with me modding the game

Yeah, may be graphics issue, but caused by corrupted file when putting in mod. Try this:

Just copying someone elses ini into your game is a recipe for disaster. The ini file is based on the actual hardware in your computer, and the ini from someone else is based on the hardware in their computer. If you have similar hardware it may work. Especially if the video cards and Processor chips are from the same family, For example, i3, i5, i7 CPUs are similar, but not exactly the same. It will probably work. However if the ini is from a computer that uses an AMD processor and you have an intel processor - I would expect problems. Even worse is the video card - Nvidia vs AMD vs Intel. The cards are enough different that It is very likely the game will just crash it it tries to use the wrong one.

Best practice is to look at each line you change in the ini to see what it does, and it it is going to have any effect on your hardware. Many ini entries are hardware neutral and work with most hardware. But just one that is specific to one brand of video card can cause the crash.

Before making any ini changes, make a copy of your ini and give it a different name ( original.ini will work) You can even leave it in the same folder as the game will not see it with the wrong name. Then if the new ini causes a problem, you can delete or rename it, and rename the original.ini back to the name used by the game.

Next, if you don't have a backup ini. You can either delete or rename the ini. Then the next time you start the game it will recreate the ini based on the hardware it finds.

Any time you change hardware ( new video card) you will need to do this anyway.
