The interstitials should not be unlike the interstitials seen on Gamespy sites. They should only be happening on TESS and not installing spyware/adware on your systems. If they are there's no way I'd be using them.

I've also been noticing some redirections even when logged in. Redirects have been sending me to E-Bay and the like mostly, but it's annoying as hell and rather troubling when you're just trying to check up on files. For some reason it even stopped asking me if I wanted to be directed. I like TESS, but this sort of thing won't make people want to use the site. I personally been using bookmarks to the forums instead of hitting on the main page first just to lower my percieved risk. Popups are one thing, screaming ads are another, redirects are just plain bad for everyone.

Agreed, and they need to stop.

lhammonds; they're called interstitials. You click the "continue to tessource.net" link in the top right and it goes to the page you requested. 24 hour cooldown.

The problem with this method is that if somebody is expecting to see a certain page and is instead presented with something else (bait and switch), a seasoned surfer would quickly close whatever page is displayed and ensure that NOTHING is clicked on that page. Makes me think of bogus PayPal sites that try to trick people into clicking on a login link or sign-in to the site (giving away their ID and Password).

Even if I know this site uses these so-called-interstitials (a technique 1st used in 1997) and that TESSource "trusts" this advertising company, I will never click on anything from a hijacked/redirected/"in-between" page simply because it would be too hard to detect the day it should no longer be "trusted." Even heavily guarded Microsoft domains have been hijacked and re-directed to mischievous sites.

I'm truly sorry if this impacts the flow of money coming into this site but I will not click any ads presented in this fashion.
