FetiqeZamamee
So does anyone think with the release of the GECK when it comes out, if it'd be able to bring back a Ranger Sequoia and or the Veteran Ranger armor from Fallout New Vegas? Or any of the Riot Gear we would find within the Lonesome Road DLC? I mean it's just something I thought about and I was rather curious with. I've heard rumors that there are some people who are working on bringing some of the older models back as textures and or re-skins of some of the Fallout 4 models. Deleted2948850User
Might be possible if you can convert the old models and textures to the new format, but it's a copyright infringement to port stuff over from other games. SkyeFlyer
Is it really copyright infringement if it's between two games published by the same company, and indeed, in the same franchise? And even if so, some judicious use of current in-game models and one's own renderings could create a reasonable facsimile. In fact, I doubt I'd even WANT a direct port. NV's models and physics would not lend themselves well to a port into Fo4. Edited November 30, 2015 by SkyeFlyer
Anchevv
FNV are Bethesda assets, I don't see a copyright infringement.
ArekkusuStorm
I'd imagine the nexus will shut down any ported assets, they've done it for Morrowing to Oblivion and Fallout 3 to New Vegas stuff so I wouldn't be suprised if they do the same here. Reference: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/377405-porting-content-from-other-games/ What are the rules on utilities that facilitate porting?I personally have no issue with utilities that require you to have both games and that help you to port content yourself. I think it's a great thing. However, a case came up a few years back with such a utility called "Morroblivion" that helped users port content from Morrowind to Oblivion. You needed to own both games in order for the utility to work but Bethesda personally requested that the utility be taken down. I had no wish to argue with Bethesda on the matter.Bethesda aren't spiteful and they must have had a good legal/law related reason why they made this request. From my understanding it has to do with them licensing some of the Morrowind assets from other companies. As part of the deal Bethesda agreed that the assets would only be used in Morrowind and were obligated to prevent any of these assets from being used in other games. As a result such utilities have generally been avoided in this community. I know a few people have sought permission from Bethesda to create similar utilities to facilitate porting between Fallout 3 and New Vegas and have been denied permission, so at the moment it is best to ask before you even start working on them, or upload them here. But feel free to check in with Dark0ne and see what he says about it. PsyckoSama
You'll need to rig up some form of automated converter due to the way Nexus opperates. That or host off site.
DimosZargarda
Well thers many other modding sites out there, some of them do not follow the rules like Nexus does.
Hallgarth
I know it's been a while and this might be classed as Necroing the thread, but I've started modelling a 45-70 5-shot revolver. While not the sequoia, it might fill your needs. There are some issues I expect to run into, such as how to get it into Fallout 4 as I'm using Blender. another is relation to trigger and grip. The pistols probably all use the same ratio between trigger and grip so the hand fits it properly, so I'll probably get that wrong.Anyway, some pics, all from today. (well yesterday for me now)http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u256/zoidgarth/45-70%20Revolver/44_70Revolver1.jpghttp://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u256/zoidgarth/45-70%20Revolver/44_70Revolver2.jpghttp://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u256/zoidgarth/45-70%20Revolver/44_70Revolver3.jpghttp://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u256/zoidgarth/45-70%20Revolver/44_70Revolver4.jpghttp://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u256/zoidgarth/45-70%20Revolver/44_70Revolver5.jpgI've got the Gate, Cylinder, Ejector and the quick-loader modelled and I'm working on the receiver. The barrel(s) and grip(s) are going to be separate .nifs and will probably be mods, like the vanilla guns such as barrel and long barrel, grips, sights etc.I actually don't know if I'm going to be able to do this as I've never attempted to model something this complicated before. I guess I'll find out.
