gunslinger6792
OH NOOOOOOOEEESSSSYou fell into the same trap I did when I placed a workbench in Vault 111  Toggle god mode (tgm)Then hold down the 'V' key or whatever your workshop key is and it works. Also I recommend tcl-ing and placing the workbench under the map so it doesn't take up space and you can always use crafting benches to access your resources. Holding down the V key did work thank you.Where are the best places for homes? Non-settlement ones that you have to mod in I mean? Did you find a particularly cool one OP?the loft area above dimond city is pretty cool but you can't fast travel to it at all. the police station though near diamond city is turning into a pretty cool little hideout. holdenagincourt
You're probably not looking for a settlement, but I found Kingsport Lighthouse to be a perfect place for a home. You just clear out the enemies and don't build a radio beacon and you can keep the place for yourself. It's a wonderful location. Yes! I agree with this so much. The lighthouse is my little love nest with MacCready while NPCs are in other settlements and such. Though I kind of wish I could have a protectron general goods vendor or something to trade with sometimes.

The first thing I do when the geck comes out is start pumping out basic homes for some of the settlements I like to use. I like seeing the people move about and bringing life to a place but I hate the NPCs using my "room." In FNV I created a series of small bunkers for my character to use at each town I frequented. It'll be interesting to see what can be done with the geck. So far from looking around in the game there are some cool assets that can be used but I'm worried there might actually be less unique building assets in FO4 then there was in FNV. sherameyn
What I really hate is that you can't really repair anything.I have (carefully) tried to disable some stuff, but it rarely works on the things I want to be gone. And then yes, there is the Lighthouse place which I really love, but dammit, we are not in the stoneage. 200 years have passed and during those 200 years there have been up and downs in the societies, but it's not like people were stupid. If you walk around with eyes wide open you will find a lot of evidence that, before the raiders and the super mutants got a foot in the door, shows they were capable of building homes and repairing. It wouldn't even have to be a pretty solution, and I know with the command console a lot is possible, but then there is still the lack for simple things, like windows. Meh, one month or more, one month or more...

I know I can assign beds but once you get past like 6 settlers it's hard to remember if I assigned a bed not to mention getting new settlers while you're gone. Sybsidian
Have you tried the room you get in vault 81? It's pretty nice. Also you can get the captains quarters on a certain large ship. Guarded by Giant robots to boot.

Enubis
Man I totally want a freaking settlement within the city area. The only one I found is Hangman's alley and even that has a ton of problems with pathing, not to mention the ridiculously small space to build in and the fact that one of the raider houses can't be removed. Ugggghhh #annoyed.

Ugggghhh #annoyed. That is very risky though. I'm myself want a roof area, nice view and good clean space. Or a dock area.
