Coriserai
There's one thing that's been bothering me immensely, and I know I'm not the only one who wants a fix for this: There's no way to send your companions back to their starting areas after you're assigned them to a settlement. For companions like Codsworth and Dogmeat, it's no issue because they already live at a settlement location. However, I would like to be able to send Piper and Nick Valentine home. I can't imagine they prefer roughing it in the Commonwealth boonies as opposed to going back to Diamond City. When I recruited Deacon I discovered that I could send him back to his starting location by tabbing out of the list of settlements that popped up when I dismissed him. I tried using this technique on Piper--recruiting, dismissing, and tabbing out of the settlement list. Sadly it didn't work and Piper defaulted back to Sanctuary. I know that some companions don't really have homes and getting back to Cait and Strong's default location involves getting shot at about five hundred times, so maybe the 'home' option should only work for folks who have pre-established safehouses. No one seems to have found a console command to edit a companions 'default' location after it's been changed, so I'm turning to the modding community for help. cyden
I 2nd this.. it bugged me that Piper would just abandon Nat and her paper even after your "talk"... or Nick would just forget about his agency.. Other then Deacon the rest are ether homeless or already live at a settlement though

Coriserai
There is.When it says where to send them, cancel. This doesn't work if you have already accidentally sent them to a settlement. I mention that in my post.

JustInspired
I really thought this would have been addressed in the latest patch but NOOO. How is it OK that Piper has abandoned Nat in Diamond City?
Bkrp
If you click on the NPC and use the command showvars on console, you can scroll through all NPC variables and you can find a variable called HomeLocation. This variable stores the cell ID number of the default home location of that NPC. I tried to change it with console commands, but it didn't worked. Also, the default home setting seems tied to Papyrus companion script, so maybe we'll be only able to change it when GECK arrives. And God knows when it will be made available.
