Who do you support for the 2008 US Presidential election and why? Sorry if you are one of those complaining about how far away the election is.

The candidates I like are considered second tier candidates. I like Ron Paul since he supports getting out of Iraq and a non-intervention policy in the Middle East. I also think he would start chipping away at the massive debt Bush has racked up.

Firstly, it doesn't matter whether or not there was a legitimate reason to enter Iraq, we *cannot* leave. We made a commitment, and have to stick to it. If we turn our tails and flee now, then America will be thought of as cowards.

Right now, I don't really care. All I know is, *NOT* Clinton. I'm not against a female president, I'm against Hilary.

------

On March 29, 2005, Clinton called the popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas a "major threat" to morality. She said, "Children are playing a game that encourages them to have sex with prostitutes and then murder them. This is a silent epidemic of media desensitization that teaches kids it’s OK to diss people because they are a woman, they’re a different color or they’re from a different place.".

Clinton's main concern was over the sexual content in the Hot Coffee mod portion of the game. She warned that if the game's manufacturer didn't change the game's ESRB rating from M (Mature) to AO (Adults Only 18+), she would introduce federal legislation to regulate the sexual content of video games. On July 20, 2005, the manufacturer caved in to Hillary's threat and changed the rating. As a result, the game was removed from the shelves of Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and other stores.

Five months later, Clinton introduced the legislation anyway. On December 16, 2005, Clinton introduced the Family Entertainment Protection Act, S.2126, a bill that would prohibit the sale of sexual or violent video games to anybody under the age of 18.

I think most people here will agree that video games are not a threat. Imagine what she'll do to us gamers if she's elected president?

------

In 1992 Hillary Clinton supported a federal ban on semi-automatic firearms before the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act was passed in 1993 and signed by President Clinton.

Come on, those are the best kinds :P

------

In her address to the 2000 Democratic National Convention on August 14, 2000, Clinton asserted that it is fiscally responsible for the United States government to stay out of debt. She stressed her support for the social programs, Social Security and Medicare, that were established during the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt. "We’ll never accomplish what we need to do for our children if we burden them with a debt they didn’t create. Franklin Roosevelt said that Americans of his generation had a rendezvous with destiny. It’s time to protect the next generation by using our budget surplus to pay down the national debt, save Social Security, modernize Medicare with a prescription drug benefit, and provide targeted tax cuts to the families who need them most."In a 2004 fund-raising speech in San Francisco, she was highly critical of George W. Bush's tax cuts, saying that "Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." Clinton has sponsored legislation designed to reduce the deficit by rebalancing recent tax cuts. She has co-sponsored legislation related to debt and deficit reduction.

Wait, wait, wait, she's going to raise taxes for socialist programs that don't even work!?! F*ck that. >:(

In short, Hilary is not cut out for it. You also can't forget her opposition of a Constitutional Amendment that would ban flag burning.

I'm not sure if I'll be voting Green or Communist party this year yet... I guess I'll have to wait and see who has less chance of winning. By throwing away my vote I make a political statment that my vote doesn't matter and that no matter who becomes president, after a week it'll be the same. Anyone know if there will be any strong conservative or liberal policies on the ballot? That'll pretty much tell you who will win. It's how Bush won in 2004.

Actually, that would be one of the few things she's managed to get right. I believe there was something in our constitution about that.... oh, right, here it is:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

A ban on flag burning would be completely against one of the fundamental principles of our country. Just because something offends you doesn't give you the right to ban it.

well i can say every gamer in your country isn't voting for clinton, stupid ***** just lost a huge amount of votes by saying that, she should have waited to see if she did become president, then do all that DOWN WITH GAMING bull crap. heck, games get band here in australia because they are R rated, we dont have a R rating for games over here (stupid punk arse censoring-company-organisation-thing-place) but if clinton- *eyes widen in terror* she will ban all gaming in your country, *gasp* you will have a tyrant!

you will have to bi PAL televisions then smuggle in ps2's and games from austrlia and the UK.

i know it doesnt affect australia much who gets alected (unless its that guy who wants to with drawl from Iraq, then we'll be the only ones stoping terroism in Iraq) i would like bush to stay in office, i love hearing about his crazy antics.

Why should we stick it out? The county is going to end up in chaos whether we are there or not, at least if we are not there, our troops are not the ones getting killed. In fact, violence might sharply increase right when we leave, but it would be against Al Qaeda; most of the insurgents are nationalists who absolutely hate AQ, but they view us as conquerers.

Also, what is our specific commitment? If it is to for the Iraqi government to create a military and police force (its definition has changed so many times I have lost track), then using withdraw (a complete withdraw would take about a year, it's not instant) as a political tool would light a fire under them to get the to get down to business.

Right now, I don't really care. All I know is, *NOT* Clinton. I'm not against a female president, I'm against Hilary.

Glad we can agree Clinton would be an awful choice. And how I see it, Rudy is just a more feminine Hillary. So I think a Hillary vs Rudy election would be a disaster for the US.

Wasn't she against selling questionable video games (like Manhunt and GTA) to minors, rather than against video games, or violent video games altogether? Don't you already have laws stopping minors buying pornographic or violent (gore-fest shite like Hostel comes to mind) films? What's the difference, really?

In the UK if you don't want to vote for anyone, but want your vote counted, you simply need to spoil your ballot paper. Don't you guys have that over there? I'm sure you do since all those clever people in Florida did it 7 years ago! ;)
