Comparisons with Skyrim

You can still refund the pass, since you seem to have bought it. I have refunded mine.

I have always had fun with all dlc Beth has ever made since oblivion knights of the nine, and getting more than two for 30 bucks as soon as they out is a nice deal. That was of course before I played it.

You don't have to voice your views about the game anymore, fo4 has more than 9,000 negative reviews, that more pretty much more than all beth games combined (skyrim has more, but because of paid mods.) YouTube videos, reddit posts, website reviews and everything you can think made from tears, anger, confusion, sadness and more since the day it came out. I hope they learned something from this.

Wastelands 2 is buggy however, but if you were one of those old fans from before Beth era I hardly think you care. I have monster hunter 4u to fill the void myself untill the rise of the tomb ride and dishonored two.

Well, you know your game is in trouble when it's compared to Skyrim and comes off worse, heh. I enjoyed Skyrim but truthfully, it was the bits of unintended comedy that kept me so engaged and chuckling like a maniac. Anyways, good thing is FO4 has got me off my lazy butt to examine other games on offer or forthcoming in 2016, and found a fair few (even a couple of Early Access games which I'd normally avoid like the plague).

Yes! And The Long Dark because I love me some hardcore survival  though I'll wait for its story mode to come out. I'd get Dying Light but hate zombies.

Fine, let's toss in Dragon's Dogma as well, why not! Will the art book be worth the pre-order?

Isn't grim dawn amazing?! I mean the quests! I killed a whole village by accident! And the gear look awesome!

I never played dragon dogma and I just found out it has an art book from you.

I advice to get get the kindle version first if there is any, then paper back. I personally never bought any art book before. Surly if monster hunter updated it books for the fourth gen since it still last gen (think oblivion.) I mean look at this http://udonentertainment.tumblr.com/post/74972291520/monster-hunter-illustrations-2-now-available-in

Or maybe dark souls. So you asking the wrong person. Anyways, if you really like the game, and like art, why not? They are not that costly.

I like Fallout 4. Yeah, Skyrim is beautiful and huge and you can ride a dragon and there are more sidequests and no dumb repetitive minutemen s#*! and no ub0r-micromanagement in settlements and the skill-tree is better and the magic is cool and the demons are awesome... but the followers suck.

The followers and diamond city radio keep the game alive when I'm traveling the wastelands. It never feels like just another shooter. No, Curie tells me to call the police and to secure the evidence. Much better than those lifeless things that Skyrim calls companions.

I don't say Skyrim is bad. Its great, I liked it, played almost 300 hours and it was fun. And maybe I'll play for another 300 hours when I'm getting bored with Fallout 4. Maybe thats sooner rather than later, not much left to do in my wasteland. Thats okay with me, I've been playing FO4 for more hours than all of the witcher series.

I do find it funny that guys are saying, "Well, Fallout is for these newer players now."

Because that is EXACTLY what us old fans from FO1 & FO2 said when FO3 came out

Edit: I want to clarify. A franchise that's been around as long as Fallout will change. Almost 20 years now with FO1 releasing in 1997. The franchise irrevocably changed when it went from Interplay over to Bethesda, far more than the move from 2d Isometric Turn-Based RPG to 3d FPS Action/RPG. People in this thread talked about dialogue, dialogue options. Well, it was a whole lot better back in FO1 & FO2 and the conversation with The Master in FO1 and the possibilities were grand. Yet when Bethesda bought it out, I rolled with the punches from FO3, FONV, and now FO4. The atmosphere was never the same compared to the original two. The franchise is a whole let less risque than the original two.

What FO game let you become a porn star?

What FO game had male characters make sexual advances on your female character for favors?

That would be Fallout 2

Yes, your female character could sleep her way up.

In the move to 3d showing much more of everything onscreen we of course naturally lost the immense humor from FO1 & FO2's combat messages:

Men

sadly, he is too busy feeling the rush of air on the brain to notice death approaching

He mumbles "Mother", as his eyes roll into the back of his head

Unfortunately, his spine is now clearly visible from the front

and he's not wearing a cup, either

Women

The attack crushes her temple. Good night, Gracie

Unfortunately, her major organs have been exposed to the light

The wound causes severe blindness, as if there is any other kind

She takes it like a man. That is to say, it hurts

Her childbearing days are in trouble as she collapses in a limp heap

Children - Yes, you didn't need a mod to kill kids in old school Fallout.

Now this young child will never really experience life

which opens an eye like an exploding grape. The child looks bewildered

breaking that arm with a loud snap. Some serious tears start to flow

Misc

causing the giant to spend a moment cursing the universe (Super Mutant)

The eyes of the mutant glow for a moment, and then the light fades - permanently (Super Mutant)

The Radscorpion cannot cope with a new sensation, like missing internal organs (Radscorpion)

penetrating almost to the brain. Talk about squashing a bug (Radscorpion)

If it was human, you would swear it's pretty pissed off (Radscorpion)

summoning this creature to the great ratcatcher in the sky (Rats)

Player

You'll have a headache tomorrow, if you live that long

You get a nice view of your body as your head sails through the air

With technology being the way it was for the 1990s, the games were more dependent on text. If anyone says that the earlier FO games were darker and more serious than the newer ones, they're forgetting some of the funny things you can do. Combat was also a series of bloody comedy. Not just in the text but in some of the death animations, which I felt were satisfying for its time.

Again, a franchise that's been around as long as Fallout will inevitably have its changes. There were IMO, very crucial losses to Fallout's flavor when it went into 3d. Yet here I am, definitely not "one of those newer players" since I've been kicking around with this franchise since the days when a Pentium 266 was hot s#*!.
