I'm still amazed that people were SHOCKED by how few women are on the site in that census thread.

Like really?

REALLY?

No way would I want to point the other women I know playing Fallout on PC here.... if they find it on their own, whatever. But I'm not going to be forever linked in their minds as the one who sent them to the creepy "BUTT PUBES INNIE VAG BOOBS BOOBS BOOBS" webpage.

Yes, there's a mature filter. But most people who see that assume mature is R rated. Playboy or something at worst. Not full on vulva close ups on the main page and the vibe of a sticky floor porn theater.

Whoa, hey there. Mature content is filtered by default for all new users. You have to enable "Adult" content.

And I would say that anyone familiar with either Skyrim or past Fallout games already know about the 'adult' mods from constant YouTube exposure. If you're a gamer, you know about it. Ask anyone in general what the first thing that comes to their mind is when you say "Skyrim Mod" and they will say Nudity. (or actually list specifics)

Its entirely unreasonable to compare Nexus to a porn theater. Considering there are websites that ONLY provide adult content for Fallout and Skyrim.

Exactly right Totalmeltdown, it is crazy to compare a porn theater to Nexus... because at a porn theater I am there to see porn not mods. And I go to the Nexus to see mods not porn, however most people that have adult content allowed do not expect close up shots of vaginas on the front page. People are merely expressing they thought it was over the top, and the Nexus has provided some ways to alleviate the issue.

I'm on board Vidicus. I fully understand what you're saying.

But its the slippery slope argument. You can't pick and choose what becomes popular. You can only choose to block or ignore it.

The Nexus has given more than what is required to avoid this content. Do I think a close-up of a vagina is over the top and distasteful? Absolutely. But I can choose to block that. Or the mod author. Or both.

It boils down to personal responsibility. It can't be Nexus as they've already provided powerful filtering tools. Its up to the end user to filter what they don't want to see. Or block all the content.

The user has complete control over what they see.

And yet the name of That Site is filtered here. *Eyeroll* Nexus provides some nude mods, but you still need to go There to get animations for them.

Besides, they don't ONLY do adult content. There's a lot of good mod developers that work on all sorts of things, both there and on Nexus. A week or so ago, Nexus' mod requests forum was full of more NSFW and skimpy requests than the Other Site.

That's been done to death already. It's nothing to do with the content of the site and everything to do with the fact the site has no adult content filter/age gate at all.

So, let me get this straight, your problem is that someone actually going and explicitly enabling "Adult" mods in their profile, might be surprised that it actually meant that? And presumably be unable to... what? Cope with adjusting their assumptions when checked against reality? And, given that they just had to go and enable that, the risk is... what? That they just forgot where it is and can't change the setting?

I'm sorry, but it seems to me like the more contempt-filled attitude is not the one where someone might model a vagina, but the one that assumes that other people are too stupid to undo checking a box, and need YOU to protect them from their own stupidity.

Get over yourself, basically. You're neither that great, nor that important.

/facepalm

C'mon Moraelin, there has to be a better way to get your point across than spitting blood.

Not that I disagree with what you said. Just seems... a bit heavy handed.

This is exactly how I felt when I read the opening to this thread.

I will say that the nexus is a great place for mods, to talk about mods, and even enjoy talking to people about modding. I'm not a modder, but I use mods. I will say one thing for mods here, and that they are fairly well done, and that there were some I thought were a little over the top. (I'm not talking about bodies here, rather other things that were cheat or god items, or things like that.) However, a nude female body is a beautiful thing. If you can't appreciate it, then, by all means, block the content. And don't dictate to others what you think is right. That is opinion, not fact, or even right to most people.

I don't think we need to start getting personal, which is where this is going real fast-like for a couple of you.

For myself, I already know where this discussion ends like it has every time it's been brought up. Only thing you can really do, as suggested, is use filters. You could even ask the author to change the image, you might not get a favorable answer but it's worth a shot.

It'll go along the same path as Skyrim modding with skimpy/revealing armor, clothing and nude bodies/bits frequently in the Hot Files. Just do your best to support the mods you like, and Block or filter the ones you don't. Or bookmark the section you like the most and use it instead of the main page.

There's not much else you can do. Dark0ne can't possibly cater to every group but at least there are some decent measures in place when it really does bother you to remove it from sight.

Wow,... you have a serious emotional attachment to those big boob mods to get so enraged.

That's... kind of sad.
