Zyxpsilon
Of course the ( Elephant in the room! ) "Steam Workshop" features will gain a priority status somehow. But what we are actually after here is that the Nexus Forums driven conversations of the past are what gave us the most useful Modding hints and common satisfaction. Many projects were actively developped right here on this site. Need i mention "Long War" for a quick proof?! From concept to final results.. a common place to meet is a must. There are some technical limits to the SDK verification via Steam and such mods aren't really stand-alone propositions (be they in a Workshop or zipped for external access systems like Nexus). Civ-Fanatics could adapt their mods flow & D/L structure for Civ5 though. In the meantime, the BandWagon(s) will soon (February 5th) leave the train station and in particular, we'd just want each of our familiar friends to join the upcoming XCom2 wild rides. tracktwo
Agreed. Even if players typically install the mods directly through steam workshop, the forums and wiki here are extremely valuable for discussions between modders and sharing info. And sooner or later we're probably to want to push the limits of the game further than what can be done easily with the official mod support tools and we'll be back to R&D threads digging out new stuff from the game. Plus the recent bug tracking features are great and I don't think steam has them (but correct me if I'm wrong). Much better than trying to dig bug reports out of huge comment threads and trying to figure out if something's been reported before and what's fixed in what version. LiQuiD911
*slides in from the shadows* Hey the LW Studios team is already working on XCOM2 mods!https://xcom.com/news/en-long-war-studios-preparing-xcom-2-content-for-launch

johnnylump
Hey gang, sorry we've been unable to say until now (and even now we can say very little), but we're planning to help the XCOM 2 modding community get started by offering technical assistance where we can -- primarily on our web site forum, here http://www.longwarstudios.com/phpBB3/index.php but elsewhere as we are able. Dark0ne
More proof there won't be a need for a Nexus!
Drakous79
If I'd have to choose, where to share info and discuss XCOM 2 mods, it'd be here on Nexus. Also what Zyxpsilon and tracktwo said is very true. Great forum, Wiki and a part of modding history. Guess we can wait and see, if the need is right or none. Zyxpsilon
More proof there won't be a need for a Nexus! You're just being sarcastic, right? We (( the little guys in the shadows of anonymity! :) )) would somehow still want to have our own precious XC2-Modding environment here.
johnnylump
@ Dark0ne Oh no, we don't want to bite the hand that's fed us for so long! And we certainly won't be *distributing* XCOM 2 mods on our site. If the community makes a home here we'll do what's in our power to help out. wghost81
Nexus is the community. XCOM EU/EW modding was not done by one team, it was done by the community that gathered here and shared their ideas and moved things forward. There were many technical breakthroughs made right here, on this very forum, which allowed LW to become what is has become. Brainstorms, discussions, many different people with different ideas and approach to modding who were thinking out-of-the-box and helping each other with their insights, Dubious who gathered everything, every bit of information, and maintained XCOM modding wiki which helped a lot of modmakers to get started. It was the best community. It is the best community. And I hope it will stay the best community. So no, Dark0ne, I can't agree with you. I hope that soon we will gather here once again to have fun with XCOM2. All the fun. Edited January 22, 2016 by wghost81
