oldspice2625
Pretty much the title. I wanted to know if it was fun/viable enough variety to do a full run with just a Grognak barbarian type of character that gives the business end of his death stick to the enemies. What weapons/perks/SPECIAL do you recommend, if it is viable compared to a sneak blitz character?
Boombro
It kinds of risky, since you need to be tanky for melee. But melee builds are do-able. A sneak build is always more op, but you can open combat that way to even the odds. For the best perks, just watch this. These guys are great at making builds btw. Jeesmies
I just use bit more stimpaks when going full melee, not much different than shooting. Of course strength and big league help.
tomomi1922
There is a perk "Moving Target" that increase damage resistance, and "Pain train" for power armor, that support melee combat. "Action Boy/Girl" perk generates AP very fast, useful for hit and run with sprint. "Commando" can stagger your opponents with automatic weapons, as a way of crowd control. Nerd Rage sounds good, but too far into the INT tree. "Big League" allows you to hit multiple target in front with melee weapons. This should one one of the earliest perk to take it seems.I personally prefer a stealth and snipe play style. Occasionally up close sneak attack when I get a chance. But I aim to get to have enough ranks to get suppressed weapons so I can freely snipe people. Silencer is not a big deal, but if you endure enough of it without one, silencer seems to be a god send item when you get it. Now to think of it, game really lacks crowd control ability. I don't realize as much because I still see this game as a FPS or TPS.
TakaraPRG
I did well...I wasn't a sneaky char and was beating deathclaws down with my super sledge in survival mode :P
oldspice2625
Not bad, not bad at all. I might ditch rooted though, and go the route of eventually getting 9 INT for Nuclear Physicist, since I want my cores to last long, because I imagine power armor being a great boon for this. TheOriginalEvilD
Doable but I personally prefer stealth along with it, and if you use VATS and Blitz and you have all the usual perks and damage buffs you can usually one hit a few targets before breaking stealth. It's a pretty fun way to play. Get Bloody Mess and punch dudes into chunks LOL.

Boombro
This video is good, gives me so much hope for the game.Trust me when I say those guys are much better RPers than others who love to call themselves so, where people raged about they prevailed and RPed the problem. Made the game better for me and gave me a lot of ideas. Have a law degree? It may be forged. No crazy people dialogue? You just have experience in hiding it. And so many more like using PA all the time, not just for how powerful it is, but also for it need to be repair and charged all the time. When you check out the Skyrim builds you know what I mean. Moraelin
Well, I'm probably not the best to ask, since I've been mostly playing a ninja since Oblivion  But generally, if you need to close the distance quickly to melee range when discovered, Jet is one way to do so. Two points in Chem Resistant can help. So basically Jet to Blitz range, Blitz the closest guy, then use the rest of the Jet high to take out the rest.
