Mods not working despite being activated.

This is seriously getting ridiculous. Out of the 12 mods I have, only 6 work; and they are

DX Commonwealth Mini Dresses.esp

Full Dialogue Interface

Improved Map with visible roads

Lowered Weapons

WET

Texture Optimisation

I have no clue why any of the others are not working;

Darker Nights

Gorgeous Vault Girl

Smoking In Fallout 4

Ponystyle Hairstyles by Azar.

I run the game through the config tool. I just have no clue what else to try. I've tried renaming the exes, trying FOSE and fiddling with the INIs.

Any help?

I'm not sure what you mean by "config tool" but I'm guessing you're talking about Fallout 4 Configuration Tool - By Bilago

The quote below was for Skyrim and not specifically for MOD troubleshooting, skip the tools that aren't used for Fallout. It's a great post to learn How to ask for help.
This stuff is a good idea to include in "help with these mods" threads:

Editing this section to apply more to Fallout 4. Original quote was from that post.

Other stuff you need to let us know
Where is the game located ( Windows Path) typically C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\Common\Fallout 4\Data

But if you installed it somewhere else it will be different.
Game version? Beta Opt-In?
Any DLCs?
Are you using NMM or any other mod manager? What version?
Are you using F4SE? what version?
Any other helper programs? BOSS? LOOT? Tes5Edit? Wrye Bash? Config Tool? anything else?

Then, if you have mods - we really do need to know what mods and what the load order is.

How to paste your load order from NMM

The Original Poster's signature also has a link to basic troubleshooting of mods and other helpful info.

I can't make any specific suggestions because I don't know enough about the mods you're using (not your fault, I don't use them) or your load order. I hope you've read the descriptions for all the mods and again if they've been updated; also check user posts on those mods to see if anyone else is asking / helping with a problem.

Game is located in D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4

Game is set to the latest version

Obviously no dlcs yet.

Trying to useNMM

I tried F4SE but then realised you need the beta patch for FO4 to use it which I don't want xD

I want to use LOOT with my mods but it won't detect F4.

It isn't the installation of the mods. That is a fact. Mods installed worked, however after something happened (which I have no clue what0, any other mods further downloaded activate, but don't appear in game. And yes I mean that Configuration Tool.

F4SE requirement: That's unfortunate! I wouldn't expect backwards compatibility either.

I'm I haven't yet tried to use LOOT with Fallout 4, I'm looking forward to it in the future though.

Has nobody had success with this and posted about it on the forums or elsewhere on the web?

I just tried it for myself, briefly. All indications were that it would work for me

Here's what I did to get NMM/LOOT/FO4 functionality:

  • Downloaded the latest archive (LOOT v0.8.1-121-g7ddb9d4 - Snapshot) from LOOT's page
  • Extracted this archive to a directory
  • Pointed NMM at this directory so it can find LOOT

  • Clicked the Loot button in NMM.
  • Loot ran but was pointed to my Skyrim installation.
  • Clicked 1. Game selection and chose Fallout 4 then 2. Sort Plugins Button shown in picture:
  • Latest LOOT Thread link is great

There are no online Masterfiles yet that I saw but the Loot tool will use its own rules to examine and order your plugins, I think.

Thanks!

I have not used it for my game yet, but I at least got NMM set up for Loot and it did seemed to Do Something to my load order.

After writing this,I found [this thread] on the Bethsoft forums for Loot - the readme linked there is very thorough.

Good luck, hope this is helpful.
