JimboUK
Give Divinity II The Dragon Knight Saga a try, hugely underratted.
csgators
PLANESCAPE: TORMENT I have to agree, it might be the best ever but Balders Gate (all) was awesome as well especially if you liked D&D.
Halororor
One thing about NWN2 is just that you should expect a LOT of your time to be spent listening to dialogue. I never finished it because I thought I had to spend way too much time listening and not enough time one the action. One of the most dialogue heavy games I've ever played. Vindekarr
NeverWitner Nights uses an extremely outdated engine, is painfully unreliable(When i first bought it it was impossible to leave the first area due to a bug) and has THE WORST lag I've ever seen from a game of it's era. It's graphics require a monsterous PC despite looking like something from the early 1990s, the combat is miserable and swords only seem to have one animation. I wouldnt recomend it to ANYONE Borderlands: Quirky little thing, but brilliantly fun. And you'll get a wholely diferent experience depending on the class you choose, as each handles combat in a very diferent way, which is amazing since it's at heart an FPS. you'll soon be addicted simply to finding better guns and making the best arsenal possible, and since EVERYTHING is co-op multiplayer, it's even better with friends. Starting to age, but gentle on machines, available on Console, and with pretty good DLC, not to mention, many Nexusians play it, including me (PC) and Thor(PS3) Dawn Of War II/Dawn Of War, Chaos Rising. Set in the ultra-dark WarHammer 40,000 universe, this bizaar but excellent hybrid of an RPG and an RTS I can wholely recomend. Has a full moddign engine, an RTS skirmish mode, co-op, and an isometric pseudoRPG campaign. For an existing WarHammer fan or one looking for something more unusual from the SciFi genre, it's worth a look. Saint's Row 2. probably the wierdest, certainly the raunchiest game ever build, and undeniably one of the funniest, Saint's Row is a rude, outlandish, crass, and self mocking comedy of an Open World Shooter, later variants represent a push towards an RPG style of play, and the third, coming out this year, is going to be a full RPG. This game is one to play before you die, just to have experienced it. Playing something like an interactive episode of SouthPark or Skins, it's an endless parade of hilarious shenanigens, and features the infamous "create-a-freak" engine that lets you control literaly every aspect yof your character, form voice, to build, to walk and has an absolutely unequaled level of player freedom: the first objective the game gives you is "grab a beer and go get laid" so you wont want to play it with prudes around, but trust me on this: few games on this earth are more fun. Mount And Blade: A game I know precious little about, nonetheless all I've heard about it is wholeheartedly positive, worth a look to say the least. Magicka: Hugely entertaining, this wierd little multiplayer title vaguely fits in as an RPG... of a sort. Just play it already, you'll see why. (STEAM Download only, Multiplayer only) Torchlight: A modern classic now available on console, aswell as PC, is a huge refference to classics like Diablo. Fun, beautifuly rendered, and truly artistic, Torchlight may not be photoreal, but neither's WoW and they're both very pretty games. Gameplay is truly A-grade aswell, and it'll take you AGES to get through, being stupendously long for it's size.(took less than 5 minutes to install) Lastly, it's uniquely suited to a casual gamer, as it has a "casual" mode that softens up the enemies and makes loot appear more often, furthermore, it'll run on a ten-year-old computer on max settings, it's extremely PC friendly, having been designed for Laptop-esque specs. It's also evil on maximum dificulty (permadeath, instakill traps, mega-powerful enemies, dozens upon dozens upon dozens of bosses EEEEEEEEEK!!) brokenergy
Have you tried The Witcher? Combat isn't really nice but it's interesting. There's also, Gothic 1-3 (beware of bugs and oh don't get Gothic 4) and Risen (which is Gothic with pirates and such. Also it's banned in Aus). ub3rman123
I wouldn't judge Neverwinter Nights solely off the animations and aesthetics. It'd be like playing chess for the combat sequences.
HellsMaster
Good rpg DAO? I dont think so. No you want to play NeverWinter Nights. NWN2 is sweet too. I strongly recommend NOT to play the Gotic 1-4 series and also NOT to play Risen. I strongly recommand Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga which is, really, underratted. Halororor
^Risen and the Gothic series (1-3) are excellent examples of great RPGs. If you expect people to take your suggestions seriously you'll really have to do more than 'don't play this brah' and 'this is a sweet game brah'. Elaborate on why you recommend and don't recommend it. Simpy listing names helps nobody.
ita
I have to agree, it might be the best ever but Balders Gate (all) was awesome as well especially if you liked D&D. Yeah, I've heard positive things about the Baldur's Gate series, luckily both games and their expansions are still available and sold for almost nothing.
