Tilarium
In all of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, once the body altering mods (CBBE and textures) start coming out I start to get confused a bit. Is there a way to use the various body size and shapes and different textures and assign one to the player and one to the different companions with the rest of the placed (for a lack of better term) and generated characters use a random one? tomomi1922
There is not so much randomness about the whole thing. Vanilla FO4 has the following features for body: - Triangle Weight (in creation menu that allows you to choose from Skinny, Fit, and Fat) this is the only thing that randomizes body size (not by a lot either).- Everybody in the world uses the same body 3D model. - Raiders use 1 skin texture, the whole world uses another skin texture, total of 2. They do have different tone so someone can be light skin or dark skin, but if you want a skin with tattoo, then the whole world (minus raider) will have the same tattoo.- Head/facial skin is unique per character/NPC. - CBBE offers a new system for you to customize female body (no male yet) with a huge range of sliders. But this body model too will apply to the entire population of women in game, young to old. Children are excluded. - CBBE also allows you to rebuild Vanilla outfits to fit this custom body you made. There is a mod called Unique Followers, and another mod Unique Player. As the names imply, you get to give your character and 3 female companions their unique skin and body model (all can be customized via CBBE Bodyslide). It sounds cool but, since all outfits have 1 size, conform to 1 body: if your unique body is drastically different than the default body, clipping will occur. Won't break game, but looks really bad. However, the good thing is, at least you get to see different skin. One can have smoother skin, one can have dirty skin, one can have the tattooed skin, etc...________________________If you are like me who cares very much about having very unique characters. this is what I do: - For Cait, I want her to have a slender and fit body, she is that kind of rugged people who doesnt mind getting dirty, so I have her with really dirty skin and some cut and bruises. - Piper is more of a city girl, more pampered and clean. I get Piper smooth skin and a more girl next door body shape.- Curie is a cyborg, she has a solid body that doesn't get affected by weight, gravity, and sign of aging. And I am currently working to create a special skin texture for her.My own character, 3 female characters, and the rest of the world have me 5 rather drastically different body models. Thus, I designate certain outfit (or even clone them myself) and build these outfits to look EXACTLY for their body shapes. It is daunting to do all these. But that is the price to pay if you want characters to look very uniquely different. Edited January 19, 2016 by tomomi1922
Tilarium
That's a great explanation, thank you! I'm going to look up the unique followers and unique player mods and see about them. I'd be happy with the followers and player (if I'm playing a female, haven't decided for my next game) to have a little difference then everyone else. Like you, the regular skin and body doesn't seem to fit Cait, in my opinion. She should have a slender and fit body but that wouldn't look right on Piper or Cait. I saw a CBBE or bodyslide (are they different, or work hand in hand?) that I thought would fit Cait great but wouldn't fit the other ladies to good. Would the unique followers let me give Cait that body type, for instance? And if I could use the various CBBE/bodyslide options for the unique characters, would I have to DL various CBBE clothes options or would the vanilla clothes adjust accordingly? That's the other thing that confuses me with using similar mods like the uniques.
mac2636
For body shapes, depending if clothed bodies are more important than nudes ones, you can get a lot of variety using bodyslide. Just create a different shaped body for multiple different outfits. Then whoever is wearing that outfit will have a different body than others who are wearing different clothes. That's the other thing that confuses me with using similar mods like the uniques.CBBE is the name of the system. The mod itself offers 1 3D model for the nude body and this 3D model reads texture very differently from Vanilla. Part of CBBE mod also offers Bodyslide: a software program on your computer (not part of the game). It allows you to rebuild that nude body into almost any kind of bodyshape imaginable. You will need to download CBBE converted version of Vanilla outfit, and rebuild these outfits with this Bodyslide program. Or else, the outfits just retain the original bodyshape. Example: You create your new body shape with DD breast size. Vanilla body (and all outfits) are about size C. If you do nothing else, you will see size DD only when naked, but when you put on Vault suit you will see size C again. You can use Bodyslide to build Vault suit to this DD size. Your character will look right, but this also means ALL WOMEN who wear Vault suit will have size DD breast.____________________ This is what Unique Player and Unique Followers do: - Create a separate folder for Mesh and Texture dedicated just for Player and all humanoid companions (Hancock, Nick, Strong, and Dogmeat do not count).- By default they have Vanilla body. - You can manually copy & paste your preferred body mesh and skin per character the way you see fit. - Like I said above, all outfits have one size, and they don't know/don't care who wear it. They will not adjust accordingly. Example: If you want Piper to have size DD, Cait has size B, beside giving them the right body mesh and skin, you also have to rebuild their outfit accordingly to their size. Want Cait to wear Harness? Use Bodyslide to build Harness into size B, then Cait will look right. But that also means whoever wears Harness will have size B, raiders, settlers, or your character, makes no difference.
techn1que
Ok so i dont post on forums too often so sorry if i posted in the wrong place but i had a great idea. would it be possible to have a character creation utilising your webcam to create a custom likeness of yourself. seems complicated to me, however i think some of these modders are capable of some really amazing things. cjohn106
What is the file for the Raiders skin texture? I'm customizing some things but I can't find the texture used for Raiders only.

Algabar
Can you use one body texture mod for a companion along with a different one for your character? Read the post by tomomi1922 above. ^^ In addition to the excellent info there. The current mod for achieving what you want is "Unique Player and Followers Redux":https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26108It's basically a combination of "unique Player" and "unique followers" in one mod. Beware: Despite its description, practically only the BODY skin is unique, not the face skin. So to avoid neckseams you have to use a face texture (e.g. Valkyr face textures), that fits a lot of different body skins... The other way of achieving what you want is to use "Skin overrides" in Looksmenu. Currently, there aren't many premade overrides available, so you'll probably have to create your own (which is basically a matter of copy and paste). Here's a guide: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/31554
