Boombro
It's a Gamebryo thing... it will never be fixed because it's a limitation in the engine. They refuse to abandon a 13 year old engine, so you get stupid s*** like that happening. Ash and goo does despawn in fallout 4. it only a problem with settlements since they seem to have a some kind of semi no reset/cell respawn area flag on. That why dead bodies don't seem to go away as well. And most game engines are always updated, not just Beth's. And good news my buddy, there is no engine that could handle beth games amount of strain expect CK engine. Even source would crash and scream at mid dense areas. So even if they had the money and time, you would always play on CK decadent!

Unity was released in 2005.Cryengine before 2009Gamebryo came out in 1995, with Creation engine coming out in 2011.etc. So yea, not that old of an engine. Issue is not with the engine, but with the lack of polish in it.

Stop asking for better game engines, ask for better programmers.
Moraelin
I'm not sure if the cell is flagged, though. Corpses I just *ahem* produced do seem to go away in settlements after a while, just not the ones that were dead as an *ahem* pre-existing condition. Essentially in all Beth game that had a CK at all, you can place corpses around like you place furniture and stuff. And they're used quite liberally in FO4. You know, all those dead settlers with a note on them, or dead raiders with pickman's card on them, and so on. Since you're supposed to find them even if you take a year to get there, they don't seem to despawn. Also, as usual, cells reset after a certain time after your last visit there. If you have, say, SH as your main settlement and go there twice a week to drop the loot, yeah, stuff there will never despawn. If that's the case, just go somewhere else (or even better, somewhere in an indoors cell) and sleep for a month. Hey, it worked for the sleeping beauty :p
CyrusAmell
Hunting two-headed deer north of Abernathy Farm with a standard hunting rifle and civilian clothing is as relaxing an activity as you will find (so long as you need not worry about settlement attacks). TheOriginalEvilD
I'm making it a point to build up a different settlement each play through as my primary base. Some of the little less popular places are pretty cool to build up. I'm working on Outpost Zimonja now and I really like it. I prefer locations that are more centrally located on the map but I like this spot a lot. Sometimes the settlements with huge boundaries give me "builder's block" with all the available space. I end up building 10x20 story buildings and don't have anything to put in them.
