Sebviz
Here is an update on the arms and the color scheme. I was thinking maybe going RobCo-blue as the base color? :-) HIGH-RES HERE Edited February 4, 2016 by Sebviz
Mavkiel
That really looks neat. If for whatever reason it doesn't pan out as a player usable power armor it'd still be neat for enemies, or even static scenery. If the armor was yellow, it'd be somewhat reminiscent of the Aliens power loader. Which was meant for construction. From the lack of armoring for the pilot, it would also make a fair bit of sense. Flyingdebris
idle thought, but it might make sense to have a cage or rollbar setup around the cockpit. just thinking from practical design standpoint of what would happen should this thing bump into a solid object or fall forward irl. they would also have the added benefit of providing spots for a player to grab as they haul themselves up into the seat
chillshock
Just one crazy idea (highly inspiring, your work): That seat... maybe that needs to be more like a saddle? It kind of looks like it... then again, maybe I'm motorcycly-handycapped. :D This is going to be one interesting mod...
Sebviz
Thanks for the feedback! Ill go over the entire model, when it's fleshed out and tweak it. A sattle-ish seat and roll-bar would be a good idea :-) Also I think I'm gonna redo the arms. They seem to have their elbow-bending point a weird place and perhaps too long? here is an update on the legs and the back. Slow and steady - but hey, no GECK yet anyway :-(
Junnari
Progressing nicely :) Just got a small question regarding the footrests; are you going to make them extendable or otherwise manipulate their positions? Their current positions in the renders seem fairly impractical & ergonomically poor, especially for that kind of seat. With a saddle they might work better, but they could still be positioned lower. Some motorbike pics might work as good reference. The arms might seem bit too long if you are comparing to human limbs, but I don't see why they couldn't be bit longer for a mecha. It might be easier to evaluate the need to adjust their length if you had the hands and rest of the legs visible, at least in a form of basic shapes. Flyingdebris
Looking real good! Also seconding Junnari's point on arm length. Being a mech, you can get away with inhuman proportions and joints that you'd otherwise not be able to do on a wearable power armor design. Feel free to go nuts. :)
Sebviz
Maybe this would help make it less uncomfortable?
Junnari
Yep, it'd be looking far more plausible, especially if combined with saddle type of seat that makes it easier to sit with legs pointing slightly to the sides and downwards. For example like this: http://www.chairmansrest.com.au/persistent/catalogue_images/products/saddle_seat_side_web.jpg Edited February 10, 2016 by Junnari
tomomi1922
You guys are either crazy or genius. Either way, I would love to have a mech over a powersuit.
