geff11
Alright so my idea for a mod would be where theirs 2 castles. they both have armys like full blown armys. you choose a side, and try to take the other one. You can also request help from the IC Bravil And Cheydinhal. who thinks this mod would be awesome?
Daledge
I would say 99% of Oblivion players would like this mod but to be honest the chances of it are slim because it would be very difficult to do so.
Lanceor
I think I recall another modder posting his experiments in making such a mod. He created a completely flat, empty worldspace just for the experiment and initially tried 20 NPC's per side or some such number. Not only did his computer slow to near unplayability, half the NPC's were standing around doing nothing. Oblivion has a hard time controlling large numbers of NPC's at once. As Daledge said though, 99% of players would probably like it if it could be done. :)
ub3rman123
It was sort of done once. A mod called Daedric Wargames managed it pretty well although it lags a ton. It doesn't have epic battlescapes or castles, just simple places to fight in. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12935
LHammonds
This is pretty-much what I want for my Spartan 300 mod once I start working on it again. I am actually building a similar system (although one-sided) in my current project called Vvardenfell Glass where more and more powerful enemies come at you as you defeat them. David Brasher
I heard that someone made a mod where they modeled creatures that looked like NPCs so that they could have larger numbers of them in a single battle with less lag. I am not sure if it is true that creatures generate less lag than NPCs because the AI system looks the same to me. You could make a whole bunch of statics that looked like NPCs (like those goofy arena spectators) but you couldn't interact with them and that wouldn't be fun. Oblivions engine can't control that many npc's at once so most of them would just be standing around doing nothing. Maybe something like this could be created in TES V.
