Lonewolf1968
I downloaded the homemaker mod but it is not showing in recent downloads. I didn't use manual, I used the other. Where can I find it and how do I get it to work?
wax2k
If you used the "Download with Manager" button, you downloaded it with NMM and will find it in there and can install and enable it in there.
Lonewolf1968
I can't find anything that says NMM. I never have been very good at programs. I can play games all day long as long as they work right. I'll keep looking and try to find it.
wax2k
If you didn't download and install NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) beforehand, clicking the "Download with Manager" button does not do anything for you. I am not sure, if modding is the best idea for you. Judging from your self-description, it's like asking "How do I do a backflip on a motocross-bike?" after just having learned how to ride a bicycle without falling off. You might want to look for basic tutorials on modding in general, modding Fallout 4 in particular and using NMM, if you're willing to put in the effort and learn. Lonewolf1968
I don't want to mod, I just want to play mods other people make. That's why I loved the workshop steam has for skyrim. It's simple to use. I found the NMM (realized I hadn't downloaded it first) and followed all of the directions to get to the game files and add what it said to add. Now when I hit play, the game starts and then just shuts down before the loading sequence finishes.

Unless you actually want to spend time tinkering and learning, modding is not a thing you want to do. It just doesn't work that way.
Lonewolf1968
It works great on Skyrim. You find a mod you want to play, subscribe to it and it loads in your game. All you have to do is check the box in data files on the game load screen. I don't want to mod anything, I just want to play mods as Fallout 4 was poorly done in the first place. If you modded skyrim like that, pretty sure it had lots of issues more or less visible, unless all you used were textures.
Lonewolf1968
I know what I did. I would open the steam window, it had a list of my games on the left and below it would have a link to browse the workshop. I could look through all of the mods and choose any I wanted to subscribe too. When I clicked play, the subscribed mods would download and all I had to do was make sure the box for them was checked in the game data files. 90% worked just fine. Some didn't work right and all I had to do was remove them for the data files list and unsubscribe them. Always worked great for me. Dragonborn Castle and Geneva's house are two of my favorites. I'm glad you didn't have many issues, but that's still not how modding should be done.
